At 110 years old he wasn't just Australia's oldest digger but oldest man as well

Australia's oldest man and last surviving World War I digger, Jack Ross, has died in his nursing home in the central Victorian city of Bendigo at the age of 110.
A spokesman at the Golden Oaks Nursing Home has confirmed that Mr Ross passed away in his sleep.
Mr Ross was 18 when he joined the Australian Imperial Force in January 1918 and trained at the wireless training school before he was posted to the 1st Battalion at Broadmeadows camp in Victoria.
But the war ended before he could be posted overseas and he was demobilised on Christmas Eve 1918.

Rest of story here

This means he lived in three different centuries having been born in 1899. He didn't see any action in WW1, our last returning soldier from that war died a few years ago.

Strange coincidence, since we just mentioned this in another Thread a couple of days ago.

RIP, Mr Ross. What a fascinating life, to have lived all through the 20th Century.
