Aussie Rock!

BUMP!

Because I've been flooded with requests (we,, one really, she knows who she is), I'll add a few more over the next little while, for your edification and entertainment.

An oldie and a not so oldie to begin with.

Short lived band Big Pig was great. The only album I know of was there 'Bonk' album which was wonderful.

I was just coming in here to post these. :(

Saw the Angels a couple of times. Man, that was a band that rocked.

My theme song:

Good work, Doc. :(

Let's Trek it up!

I do love Savage Garden <3 And this is totally hot.

btw I notice you don't list all 12 minutes of all three parts of Evie. THANK GOD.

I could tell a lot of stories about being forced to listen to that one by fans

"Just listen, no really, it's really amazing.. "

Savage Garden... the memories :). Just ripped my cd of them to my ipod. They have good voices.

Their voices are the only thing about them one could possibly describe as good.

Kind of disagree with you on that, Pingfah.

I liked this song by them the most, both for their singing and the song itself.

One of the most important 'blind' CD purchases I ever made in my life was picking up a 2-CD compilation titled GOLDEN MILES which was an anthology of Australian rock in the early seventies. I instantly became a fan of the unique blend of early heavy metal, prog and psychedelic blues with my introduction to the work of such artists as The Masters Apprentices, Spectrum, Blackfeather, Tamam Shud, Kahvas Jute and others.

'Golden Miles' is one of my favourite songs. It kind of peters out, but a great opening, great riff, keyboard, voice. You should put up a list of the songs on that album.

I have a few more songs I was going to put up, but... we lost another good one.

Jim Keyas, lead singer of The Masters Apprentices lost his battle with cancer.

So, some of their best. Damn. Damn damn damn.

Because I Love You is one of the great Aussie songs.

I heard this song when I was a kid and fell in love with it, one of the first to get me like that:

When they were known as "the bad boys of Ausie rock,", this was one of the songs that cemented that reputation:

Do what you wanna do. Be what you wanna be. Yeah.

Well, in light of Doc and Jim leaving us, I thought I'd throw in a couple more greats we've lost in the last couple of years.

Billy Thorpe was one of the great voices of Aussie rock, from the sixties doing pop covers, to his rock of the sevnties and eighties. THIS SONG is just one of the best things ever. imo. One of my great loves is the sound at the end of the guitar solo, about the last 4 bars (yeah, kinda geeky, but whatcha gonna do?).

And Daryl Cotton had been around since the sixites. Here he is with Rick Springfield in The Zoot, doing a rocked-up cover of Eleanor Rigby, making it even more awesome! :D

Cotton and Keays toured Australia with another legend, Russell Morris, whose' The Real Thing' is another huge song. Here they are doing the aforementioned 'Turn Up Your Radio'
[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZbFvXjxRz4[/yt]

And Morris's song 'Sweet Sweet Love' (a big hit when I was experiencing an early teenage crush)

(man, can't believe I'm sitting here getting teary to these songs, for lost love and lost voices).

MORE, as they say, later...

I have listened to "Am I ever gonna see your face again" at least a gazillion time in the last couple weeks on loud. Very loud.

I don't even have anyone whose face I want to see again! I'm on some kind of vicarious sentiment kick, where is MY PERSON who I feel like this about?!??

I'm almost freaking crying at parts of this song wth
