Aug Pride-The Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Thread

I finished Mankind Divided last night. A few thoughts follow. Read at your own risk if you haven't finished the game. :p

The fact I finished it in a bit over a week, given I don't have much spare time these days, says a lot about the game. When the credits started rolling - after a(nother) ridiculously long cut scene - I thought to myself "Is that it?!?" It's much too short, and if we're now in a situation where a crapload of DLCs and / or a new game every few years replaces a lengthy, satisfying experience like HR (never mind the original masterpiece), I for one will not be impressed. I actually feel a bit ripped off at this point.

The game continued to look incredible - the cut scene as Jensen left the GARM facility is just beautifully done. The references and pointers to DX were generally well done - I've yet to notice any glaring errors (like the Beth / Nicolette DuClare stuffup in HR) and some of the new details are quite intriguing. It's still quite clear the developers did their research and / or are genuine fans of the original game.

I'm glad I picked Remote Hacking as my "experimental" aug. It proved very useful. to say the least. :D

Stoked that Malik is canonically alive. The mentions of a few other HR characters were mostly welcome, but it's a pity a few voices were (had to be?) recast. Vega's ethnicity switch was jarring and IMO unnecessary; presumably there was some pressing real-world reason for the change.

It was painfully, blindingly obvious (Valeris obvious, to throw in a Trek reference) that Delara Auzenne was some sort of double agent / plant / spy / whatever. The fact she turns out to be working for the Illuminati wasn't exactly shocking, either.

More thoughts may follow, but for now I'm a bit disappointed. Mankind Divided isn't an Invisible War-type piece of utter crap but it's no Human Revolution, either, I doubt I'll be replaying this as much as I have Deus Ex or Human Revolution.

I look forward to reading other opinions. :bolian:
