attention girls: embrace your inner...

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

I had an epidural with DD and a spinal with DS. They will try to tell you they are the same thing. Well, let me tell you -- they just aren't.

If you are given a choice, take the epidural. If they tell you you're getting a spinal, ask (no, beg) for the epidural. I despise needles with a passion, but you won't see this. They will have you in an upright fetal position (not easy when you're ready to deliver) and someone will stand or sit in front of you to hold you with your spine as curved as possible. You won't see anything but the details on the shirt of the person who's holding you.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

what makes me wary of epidurals is the experiences of a few women i know. for one, the baby basically came out too fast, which caused so much major damage that she was restricted to a wheelchair for about 6 months.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

I want kids one day, but I'm glad it won't be soon if I ever have one or two. That last post scared me. The idea of the restrictions that pregnancy would put on certain activities was scarry enough. I don't wanna think about stuff like that. Eeek.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

My sister-in-law had an epidural and was fine, but considering my reaction to needles and blood as of late, I think I want the painkillers...
A question to those of you who have had kids and done natural childbirth and maybe broken a bone before that... is the pain comparable?

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

All the women in my family that are living today had natural childbirths without epidurals. It's like an issue of pride, or something. All I know is, my pain threshold is definitely limited, and I won't suffer for the sake of my pride!

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

pride schmide. the act of childbirth isn't really all that dignified, so what pride?

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

^ My sister just had her second child and this time the epidural took. Unfortunately, it worked so well she didn't realize she had broken her tailbone from pushing until AFTER it wore off!

In other news I was out of town last week for work and got my period without a diva cup or luna pad in sight so back to tampons I went. Yuck.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

My sister got really sick from her epidural when her son was born. And it didn't help that she was depressed because he had a birth defect (he's fine now!). :( Not a good time.

:scream: :scream: I'm going to be early this month, I can tell. My shorts are too tight. :scream: And I want to hit something. :p

** Runs out of Kira's Mom's way **

Here, take my chocolate stash. It sounds like you need it more than I do! ;)

*outruns kimc* :p

after using lunapads/sponges/cups for so long, pads and tampons just seem so weird.

in other news, my friend was telling me that her sister's ferret's favorite toy was tampons.

At work today, we received a thank-you note on rather interesting stationary. It was from a customer in another state who had been helped by phone. She sent a short, hand-written note thanking some of my coworkers for helping her find what she wanted.

Unfortunately, she had reused some scrap paper she had lying around. It was an advertisement card, about the size of a business card and you could still read where she had marked through "KnowMenopause.com" in big letters on the front of the card. It ran right through the middle of her message. The back of the card still had all of the information on the site.

I pulled it out of the envelope and almost fell over laughing, because I'm sure this woman had no idea we could still read it or that all of that was on the back.

I know what you mean. A few days ago I looked into the bike bag I keep on my bike and was like "What's that piece of round cardboard down there?" It was an old, shredded tampon. Yuck!

^ Ew...
I have a computer question... Is a memory stick like a diskette? I'm wondering because I'm seriously thinking of buying a notebook computer...

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

Yes, they are just little hard drives. And do yourself a favour, get a Mac. :)

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

Wow. I'm so tired. Totally drained. It's partly the heat, but partly PMS. God, that sucks. Periods and summer don't mix well at all. :( At least I don't want to hit anything now! :p

You must me channeling me. That's how I feel but I was too lazy to type it. *sigh*

Thanks, Plum! :)
KM and May, I understand completely.
Happy B-day, Scatta!

I've known this for a long time, but realized it again... Childcare is hazardous to your health. I have bruises all up and down my legs... :o

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

Yes, it is. While DS was teething, my left shoulder was black and blue. I was the only teething ring that seemed to satisfy him. *sigh*

Today, though, my little Tae Kwon Do child (again, DS) was practicing jump front kicks...on the refrigerator. When I stopped him, he tried to practice on me.

Yeah, we spent some time in the rocking chair for that one.

I gotta get that child a jungle gym. Today. :vulcan:

Thanks poohka and Peach, but I didn't really celebrate that this year (except with immediate family, because I have no choice, and I figure they have a right). I will be having a mini-blowout in four more years, though.

It just suddenly occurred to me yesterday that 30-year-olds are now within my +/- 4 year preferred age range for guys. I am NOT a grownup darn it. :p ;)
