attention girls: embrace your inner...

I watched a Cristiano Ronaldo music video to the tune of Inner smile - Texas lastnight... And I've had it in my head since... and with this weather we have lately, it ain't so hard to find that smile. :D

Oh hell, I'm too lazy. Kim called dibs on it first.

Yeah! Deanna if you still want to send it I'll pm you my address. I'll also need yours to pay for the shipping.

^Aw...why is it hard?

I had to sing and ring handbells at two services, then go right home and cook dinner for ten people! I got through it all, but I'm exhausted.

And now the cramps start. :p

Sounds exhausting but I always thought learning how to do the hand bells would be fun.

Ladies (and Holdfast), what sort of shoes can I wear with jeans that are still somewhat dressy and fashionable? I'm talking heels, since I'm so short. I've been wearing my boots since it's still cold here and even snowing today, but I anticipate that the weather will get warmer eventually. And I want to start looking a bit dressier in general.

Ooooh, I've never worn any sort of animal print before ever. Not sure I could pull that off.

It depends on the cut of the jean and the dressiness of the heel. You want to stay away from shoes that look too dressy and delicate because they will be out of balance with the jeans. The more you have a flare at the bottom of the jeans the more "sturdy" the shoes should be.

And to contradict the last post, you can wear a strappy stiletto sandal--even a metallic sandal--with jeans to go out in the evening.

But in general, a peep-toe platform pump will go with just about anything.

I never said you couldn't. Just make sure the bottoms of the jeans aren't waving around like a couple of flags above them. In that case you're better off with a boot with a heel, etc.

"Avoid dressy and strappy" is a rule of thumb but for every rule there are exceptions. Like I said - a shoe by shoe basis...

Sorry. I took "stay away from" as to mean "don't wear." Apparently you meant something else?

If your jeans are waving around like a couple of flags, then they are too short to wear with heels.

My jeans are generally pretty dark, boot cut jeans. Nothing with too much flare but definitely nothing that tapers either.

A what-toe what?

Aha, interesting. I've never even noticed shoes like that before. Will definitely keep my eye out the next time I go shopping, thanks! :)

^It's actually an older thing that's come back. I still have a few pairs of 80s shoes that look very similar. :)

Unfortunately it's a look that those of us with small feet and toes can't pull off. Whenever I've tried a pair on I look like the "toeless wonder". ;)

^they don't really work for me either. i have a long 2nd toe, and when i wear those, it ends up looking like that's the only toe i have.

Kestra, i love high-heeled wedge slides, but that could just be me. how about wedge sandals - something like this? and this is one of my absolute favorite basic high-heeled sandal designs.

kimc, i'm still interested if you are. lemme figure out how much shipping will be and get back to you...

I didn't think I could, either. But it was just a pair of cute flats...

Here's a picture of some (top row), but obviously just for illustration--these are the cream of the crop. There are lots of lower priced examples in the stores now. ;)
They look like they wouldn't be that comfortable... there would be too much pressure on the edges of the hole around the toe.
