attention girls: embrace your inner...

Okay, I need some help :)

I'm want to start taking my three-year-old for swimming lessons. Unfortunately that means me getting into a swimsuit again. Now I think I can cope with showing my knees to the world, but I could do without having to care if my arm-pits meet general societal standards...

So, does anyone know of any swimsuit companies that make a suit with sleeves?

I wouldn't have thought it was that weird a concept but I haven't found anywhere yet.

Wouldn't it be easier to shave your pits and have it done with?

Well yeah, but then I'd have to keep doing them and remember to do them and well, it's time out of my day that I don't have.

^ Fuck it. It's, what, 2 or 3 square inches of sparse body hair? Who cares? Okay, I admit that I have very little credibility saying that as a guy, but I don't think it's a big deal. As it turns out, neither does my girlfriend--she doesn't shave her armpits or her legs. I think shaving off body hair is gradually becoming optional--either that, or I just know a bunch of hirsute feminists (which is entirely possible, I'm sure, and I do admit that almost all of my friends are in their early twenties, which may be skewing the results).

Rather than shaving, just go take a couple minutes to practice your best glare. Then if you see anyone frowning at you, whip out the Much-Imitated, Never-Duplicated Trampledamage Stare of Some Intimidating Adjective.

Stop looking for swimsuit. Look for a swim-shirt (they make them with sun protection) and a pair of swim shorts. If you can't find what you want in the women's section, cross the aisle to men's wear.

If you don't want to shave them that's your call. However, if time is the issue you can get them done in 30 seconds while in the shower. Heck, in a rush you can even use soap instead of shaving gel...

Actually it's mostly that I'm a bit freaked at the idea of showing that much skin! I wear trousers and long-sleeves even in summer... But I figured wearing a wet-suit to the pool would be considered a tad odd.

Thank you! At least there's options out there :)

^Darn, and here I was going to suggest a wet suit. (kidding)

Random thought: I support the legalization of gay marriage like any good Democrat. However, every now and then I encounter a guy who just makes me think, "D*mn, I'm glad I'm straight."

Oh, and I'm back by the way. Reset your ignore filters. ;)

^Warped minds think alike!

I tried to explain where I was going before I left, but unfortunately, I forgot to write the message until about 15 minutes before the deadline I had set for myself and I had to post it in several places. Thus, I crossed two or three things together into one and made NO sense at all.

Basically, I was celebrating Lent for the first time, and trying to figure out a few things in my secular life as well, so I set that period of time aside to do both. I decided to stay away from internet message boards and any other online "time wasters" because I needed to get other things accomplished. I jokingly said I was giving you guys up for Lent. I literally followed the same rules and the same time frame.

I tried to do the fish thing (not for any religious reason, just to see what it was like) and only lasted through February.

diets that include fish/seafood but not other animals are called pescetarian.

it really annoys me when people who eat seafood claim to be vegetarians. but that's a different topic.

Kudos on managing it! I'm not sure I'd ever have that much will-power.

Well the fun part of discipline is when it's over. [she says while trying not to be the next poster child for the "don't drink and type" PSAs on this board, as her church had a very large Irish festival this weekend, leading her to discover that whiskey is good in hot chocolate]

Me too! It really ticks me off. And even National Geographic refers to sea life as 'fish stocks'.
ooh!! or when people treat me like i'm an idiot for believing that shrimp are animals. because, you know, i failed to fail biology....
