Astra's TOS action figures in action

6-1.jpg

Tack a third arm onto that StarGate Asgardian(?) figure, and it'll serve as a rather decent Lt. Arex!

Awesome! And so funny. Wait, who made the helm and Kirk's chair? And did they make any other Enterprise (no bloody B, C, or D) bridge stations?

Arex was indeed the inspiration for that picture! I was thinking about who I could use and then realized, hey, who says it needs to be a human? LOL
These Thor figures easily go for 100 dollars these days on ebay, so too expensive to buy another one. I wish I had bought some more at the time.

Kirk's chair is the electronic Art Asylum / Diamond Select Toys one. I got it used from ebay and thankfully the electronics still work.

I got the helm console and also a biobed from Triple Fiction Productions. This guy does those awesome 3D prints. However, these were the last two items he sold in 7", since then he's concentrating on the smaller 4,5" Playmates scale. I have some Voyager stuff as well, perhaps I should do a thread with those as well over in that forum?

In Playmates scale we have bridge consoles, sickbay, mess hall, transporter room... sometimes with electronics even. A collector's dream! But I do not own TOS Playmates so I did not go for that stuff.

There was also more fun had with Tribbles! Although Scotty doesn't look like he enjoys himself too much.

Here's a Mego figures tribute to "Arena" I just saw on youtube, in case anybody missed it:

ROFL! I love the giant hands coming in and helping things along. I forgot how huge Spock's ears were.

Oh, I cannot tell you how many adventures I had with my Mego Star Trek figures, how many Klingons and Romulans I defeated, how many Gorns Kirk defeated, how many times the Earth or the whole Federation were saved. I had the bridge too.

I also had super hero figures who got pressed into service in Star Trek adventures too. My Aquaman had pointed ears, so he was a good Vulcan or Romulan. Iron Man was a good robot, the Thing a good rock alien, Spiderman a good insect alien, the Hulk a good green alien. The Lizard made another good Gorn if I ignored his tail. Good times.

Oh wow! What a lot of work! Is that on original location? How very awesome!
I took my Stargate SG-1 figures to Vancouver and shot pictures on original filming location there. Great fun!

The only "Arena" picture I ever did is this, and it is not very good I am afraid. Partly for the reason that I am just not good with setting up fight scenes, but then also these figures are very stiff and difficult to balance into any other position than standing.

Check out my fight Archer vs. Shran over in the Enterprise forum if you like - now those 12" figures do have a lot of articulation and pose well!

The background rocks are aquarium decorations. Here I tried them with Diamond Select Toys figures:

And here with Mezco:

And this is a figure of mini Astra taking a picture of Kirk ;)

If you ever have the chance to go and get scanned and 3D printed, do it! I even did it twice:

That is such a fun concept! Adam Savage on his "Tested" YouTube channel has discussed the concept on a few occasions. If I had it done, I'd like for the figurine to be in 1/13th scale (roughly 5.5 inches) to fit with my Character Options brand Doctor Who action figures.

So fun! I recently bought Trek Playmates figures from the late 90s second hand, and I just had to take them out of their boxes to live and be played with. My Kirk has gotten to take part in spending the summer outside, had a hat knit for him, and Sulu came with me to the movies. When they're not adventuring they're on display in a glass case, but I'd feel terrible just keeping them in their boxes!

Magnificent. :bolian:

Thank you!

It really is a great experience! There are several options you can choose from, so I'm sure that would be possible.
The owner also told me that there was a man who had only his head scanned in 1/6th scale and then put himself on an Iron Man action figure.

I also loved their displays, there was a grandmother sitting and reading a book to her grandchildren.

There was a little ballerina in tutu and ballet shoes and also a woman who apparently does line dancing and had the outfit. So rather than in regular clothes, people choose to dress up in a certain way. I heard they also had a stall at a convention and scanned fans in their cosplays. Isn't that great?

Congratulations! I am sure they are happy to be out of their boxes. I don't understandn people who never open them. Yes, they gain value but where's the fun? Sounds you and your figures are having a blast!

I'd love to see that. Are you posting anywhere, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram? If not, please feel free to add a few in here. I also love taking my figures outside. These following pictures were done at a vacation. The vintage cars were hallway decorations in the hotel I stayed in and the tiny houses are in a miniature outdoor park with sights from all over the world - just in miniature. I love those.

Thank you!

These are fantastic! The car shots give "A Piece of the Action" vibes. :)

LOVE everything you have done! Can't get enough. :)

My wife and I will soon be doing similar things with Olaf, from Disney's Frozen.

If you have or can acquire an old-style tv, you could remove the innards and re-create Trek episode scenes on a tv "screen". Better if the knobs and buttons are still in place, for maximum realism. All we have right now is the old bare housing. Still fun, though! Second pic is a full view of the sled I made for Olaf, by cutting an old pair of skis. :D

KIRK: "Well, you were coming at me with a machete!"

SPOCK: "No, Captain; I was defending myself with a machete."
:rommie: Chicken and egg, eh?

Indeed!

Here are two more from that vacation for you. I found those in a restaurant. Perfect size!

Oh I love this! What a great idea. You definitely should continue with that. Some people take their figures or plushies wherever they go, on vacation all over the world. I love seeing so many cute funny pictures.

Also great idea about the TV. I don't have anything like that, but how about this? This was originally a statue with a table and Joker in front. I removed the table to just keep the light up screens at the back for other purposes. If you look closely, you can still see the Joker's face on them.
