Asteroids may have struck the Earth more often than we've realized until now. Scientists are developing a system to detect such rude visitors.

We had a couple of blasts here in Alabama. One in Nov. (11?) 1986, the other Dec 3 1999 IIRC. Tagliaferri reported the folks behind the DMSP didn't want to cooperate with meteor experts any more. I suppose this has changed.

Define multi-kiloton, surely even a 2 or 3 kiloton explosion would fit that definition. But I suspect many might thing more on the level of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
