Not only does the Mayan calendar end on 21st December 2012 but that is also the date for the winter solstice of that year. The winter solstice happens to begin on that date at 11:11am UTC therefore I would like to point you all to do research about the 11:11 phenomenon that millions of people worldwide have been witness to including myself.
Not only does the winter solstice occur it's also a special galactic alignment. The Sun aligns each year with the dark rift (as viewed from Earth) but on 21st December 2012 the sun aligns directly with the Galactic centre (as viewed from Earth) and thus with the super massive blackhole at the centre of our galaxy, an event that happens only every 26,000 years due to the precession of the equinoxes.
We are also roughly 26,000 lightyears from Galactic centre, co-incidence?? don't think so, it's a sign.
Everything is a sign of the coming 'doomsday'.
As for the Asteroid Apophis, i'd be more worried about all the dark comets/asteroids that are undetected floating around the solar system then that one.
Oh yeh, and the lost book of Nostradamus points to a 2012 date with the deciphered symbolism in it.
