EPISODE IX
VICTORY

For 75,000 years, since the fall of
Those Who Came Before, the
BROTHERHOOD OF ASSASSINS
have been the secret guardians of
peace, freedom and justice on the
planet Earth.

Now these fearsome warriors are
all but extinct. One by one they
have been hunted down and
exterminated by their ancient
archenemies, an ultra-rich cult
of would-be global tyrants: the
KNIGHTS TEMPLAR OF ABSTERGO.

The Templars are now secretly aided
by JUNO and AITA THE SAGE, the last
two known surviving members of Those
Who Came Before. Together, they
manipulate the unsuspecting Templars
in a bold plot to resurrect their people -
the ancient species that created and
enslaved the human race.

When complete, this PHOENIX PROJECT
will spell certain doom for the Assassins,
and Man’s freedom of choice – his control
over his own destiny - will be lost forever….

Sorry, I just couldn't resist. :guffaw:
Since the Unity/Rogue thread seemed played out, the first part of Chronicles coming out next week (April 21st), production of the Michael Fassbender film beginning and the reveal of details of the next major title in the series seemingly imminent, I decided it was time to start a fresh thread.

So far, all we know at this point is that we're going to Victorian London - home of Arthur Conan Doyle, Charles Dickens, Jack the Ripper, and lots of factories and soot. And we'll be going there this next Christmas.

But before we go there, we're first going to 1526 Beijing and following Ezio Auditore's final apprentice, Shao Jun, as she struggles to resurrect the Chinese Brotherhood at the pinnacle of the Ming Dynasty, under the rule of the cruel and ruthless Emperor Jiajing...

To be honest, this is exactly the game that I want to see.

Re: Assassin's Creed: Victory (also Chronicles and Movie)

Hm, Jack The Ripper could be a Templar...

Re: Assassin's Creed: Victory (also Chronicles and Movie)

So, Ubisoft has decided to rename this game Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. :wtf:

Anybody know how to change a thread title?

Re: Assassin's Creed: Victory (also Chronicles and Movie)

Akiraprise can do that for you, if you ask nicely ;)

Bummer though, Victory is a much better title - although the opportunities for jokes and 'shops relating to the Syndicate franchise are a definite upside.

The game needs to involve cut-throat mega-corporations and tons of hacking and cyber-crime now, obviously.

I've asked Akiraprise (nicely, I hope).

You can almost smell the desperation emanating from the game makers in this video. There seems precious little Assassin in Assassin's Creed at this point - it's a little bit Grand Theft Auto, a little bit Arkham City, a dash of Watch Dogs, a pint of The Order: 1886 and entirely too much Unity for anyone's liking. We're still playing the game-within-the-Abstergo-game here, which means no modern-day element other than more Initiates business (albeit with no multiplayer/co-op this time) and Bishop trolling the hell out of everyone. Please tell me we're not searching for another damn Sage...

I'm starting to get a bad feeling Jacob's Assassin Mentor will be the original Communist himself, Karl Marx. Won't that be a kick to players' teeth?

Re: Assassin's Creed: Victory (also Chronicles and Movie)

I like the setting and it interests me a lot more than what can be said about some of the other AC games. I'm currently playing through Black Flag and enjoying it a lot. But with that said, I really wish they'd ditch using the Templars as it's become a little tiring for them to be everywhere and every time setting at this point. They need something new to face, something fresh.

Re: Assassin's Creed: Victory (also Chronicles and Movie)

I've been growing continually disenfranchised with this series for a while now, but every game has at least peaked my interest enough to get me to play it.

This trailer, however, does not get me even the slightest bit excited. However the stories play out, part of the fun of the older games for me was being able to visit unique, ancient places. London? BORING.

So the Syndicate in the title means a crime syndycate(or most likely multiple) with the main character/assasin as an enforcer/leader of a gang that works for one syndicate?!?

The gameplay looks uninspired, the carriage chase looked dreadful, and the setting doesn't personally interest me. I've been slowly growing bored of the series for years now, but this is the first time where I have no real interest in playing the game.

Re: Assassin's Creed: Victory (also Chronicles and Movie)

That's because Black Flag is actually good. ;)

Hah, yes. It's a great game in general. I'm nearly at the end now, with nearly every collectible and every fort conquered. Currently in Long Bay.

Speaking as someone who *still* haven't gotten around to even finishing AC2 yet; by this point the series looks so oversaturate and seemingly redundant that I'm not sure I even want to bother to do that much.

It feels rather like a TV show you missed what it first came out, heard good things about the second & fourth season but now it's in the sixth or seventh with a couple failed spin-offs and everyone's complaining that it jumped the shark ages ago. It's a bit off-putting to say the least. ;)

That's not a bad analogy. Though Assassin's Creed III does make a good ending to that initial arc, wrapping up the main plot until that point. I think stopping there would be pretty satisfactory (similar to if you stopped Stargate: SG-1 after season 7, or the Doctor Who revival after "The End of Time", or Babylon 5 after season 4).

Black Flag, Rogue, and Unity pick up from there, with varying degrees of success and involvement. The first two combine to form the successful-but-short spinoff that picks up some threads from the parent show, but does its best work on its own ground (Torchwood), while the latter is the failed spinoff generally ignored by everyone (K-9 and Company). ;)

At this point, if someone was interested in the series, I think that I'd suggest they play the Ezio trilogy and III, and then stop there.
