Ask J.J. a question at Memory Alpha

I do think the 24th century could be revisited at some point. But in the post Nemesis period, it was PLAYED.

Thanks for the many new questions! We'll have a tough time picking the 20 best ones. I think our basic criteria will be as follows:

- Is the question of relevance for Memory Alpha, the Star Trek wiki (only a handful of the current questions qualify for that)

- Has the question been asked and answered before (several have, so they will not be picked)

- Will the answer to the question be evident as soon as the movie is released (many qualify for that. As the answers will be posted just a few days before the release, questions like "Is Shatner in the movie" are useless and will not be chosen)

That still leaves a lot to choose from.

Wasn't there someone involved in this movie who got asked stupid question after stupid question after stupid question from a poster here? And then that poster got pissed off when -- even though his first like six questions were answered -- the seventh one went ignored?

I sure hope that poster doesn't know about this Q&A with Abrams.

Yes, it was MattJC asking Bob Orci questions. And because they that last one wasn't answered and he began harassing the poor man, he swore off the movie and started calling the writers all sorts of various "colorful metaphors".

I'd just ask him why he was so awesome, but he'd probably respond in a way that we'd be unable to even begin to comprehend.

No one can possibly understand pure, unfiltered awesomeness like JJ possesses.

So you should ask: "Who would win in a badass awesome-off: Captain Robau, Jack Bauer, Chuck Norris or JJ Abrams?"

Here are the 20 questions that were chosen by us. Only 15 of those were ultimately sent to J.J. Abrams, however. You can decide for which reasons Paramount didn't want the other ones to be forwarded to him...

Chosen questions at MA

I'm not surprised at all that none of the really critical questions were chosen. The reason the last 5 weren't sent to Abrams is probably because there weren't any canned responses for them.

Everybody can post one question until next Sunday, when admins Shran and I are to pick the 20 best questions which will then be emailed to J.J. Abrams.

I, too, offer to e-mail 20 fan questions to J.J. Abrams.

I offer no guarantee that he will ever read them. Or respond.

Yep, those behind Memory Alpha probably went all starry-eyed at his offer. Then unable to let a really tough question slip through, otherwise JJ Abrams' gesture would've switched from an outstretched hand, to a middle finger...

I didn't participate, but am disappointed that question about the film rendering the whole site an irrelevance didn't make the shortlist. :scream:

I wish they'd extend the same offer here. Mind you, after MattJC's effort, they probably wouldn't want to. Shame. The more intersting quetions weren't asked. Not necessarily the hard questions just the interesting ones. WAY too many questions about canon and related issues. I suppose MemAlph is feeling insecure.

Starry-eyed? Not exactly! We actually asked them if it was possible to postpone the session until after the movie is released, so we can ask the important questions (well, important for a Star Trek encyclopedia). That wasn't possible, we were told, so we had to make the best out of it. And feeling insecure? Absolutely! We can't wait for the release of the movie and people starting to erase articles or remove sections stating "XXX died/was destroyed/banged XXX in the new movie"... and the other series never happened. ;-)

Simply, "For God's sake why would you want to be accosted by fans who will never forgive you for reviving their cherished franchise and giving them more Star Trek?"

Yeah it sucks that Abrams doesn't want to sit through fanboy whining and bitching about how he violated teh cannon!!

Huh, why does the film render the whole site an irrelevance? Did I miss something?

Because come May 8th, all of the surviving original actors are going have heart attacks and die, all VHS and DVD copies of TOS-ENT are doing to self-destruct, and all content that even mentions them is to be destroyed (Memory Alpha and TrekBBS, for example).

Duh.

Then us younger Trek fans that like the new movie will apparently roast mashmellows over the fire old trek burns in.
