And the mural also appears to be a serpent of some kind rather than an actual dragon (no wings), so we have had snake motifs in all episodes so far... Likely Moffatt wants us to all be jumping up and down expecting the return of the Mara. I'm not going to though.

Dragons are sometimes depicted as wingless serpents, i.e. the sea serpents, which, as Wikipedia tells me, were popular in later scandinavian folklore.
