In 1963, the U.S. government launched a covert space mission sending hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard the Ascension to populate a new world. Nearly 50 years into the journey, as they approach the point of no return, the mysterious murder of a young woman causes the ship’s population to question the true nature of their mission.

Hey, look! Something on SyFy that doesn't involve pro wrestlers or sharks flying around in tornadoes!

Well, I'm suddenly a lot less excited.

SyFy original whatevers just don't bring the same level of anticipation that they once did.

I actually find the idea pretty intriguing, even if it is a little odd.

I'd certainly give it a try.

I wonder what the justification for sending people to populate a new world was in 1963. A simple terraforming mission in case we irreversibly screw up this planet or something more nefarious?

The first commercial with actual footage is up:

Surprised it doesn't play more on that whole retro future thing that interested people with the original promo.

Please-please-pluh-Lease be about the Cold War!

"We have to get there before the commies do!"

Looks interesting. I'm thinking at this point that they launched Ascension as a way for humanity to survive in case we and the Soviets nuked each other into oblivion, or something along those lines.

I've been very interested in this since I first heard about it, and this promo looks pretty good. I like the ambiance of the setting. I hope the story lives up to the concept.
