Article Ranks Every Episode, Preposterously

What gets my goat is the non-TOS fan who doesn't even know the show and announces his judgments as if they mean something.

Everyone thinks their opinion is more important than it actually is. I've yet to see any list that has changed my feelings on any episode/movie/series of Star Trek.

I'm sure there's a Star Wars list out there that looks like this:

6) Attack of the Clones
5) Return of the Jedi
4) Revenge of the Sith
3) Star Wars
2) The Phantom Menace (Time has been kind to this reviled entry...blah blah blah)
1) Empire Strikes Back

Really, I'm only interested in a list if it's by a respected movie critic, like Leonard Maltin, someone who seems to genuinely enjoy the movies in all its facets.

Good point. I'm starting to think that's what underlies the Blauvelt article. Muckraking.

I think that's it right there. If they post some annoying shit, then it gets enough people irratated to bitch to someone else and they start posting their annoyance and that gets the clicks for the advertisers. Valuble content not necessary, just like a lot of what's on tv, music, and movies.

I agree, it is the instant cliche answer, much like "The Great Vegetable Rebellion" is always named as the worst episode of Lost in Space (plenty of second season episodes that are more dire than that).=

Way back in 1997, TV GUIDE magazine did a list of the fifty greatest TV episodes of all time. LIS's "Great Vegetable Rebellion" was on that list. In fact, it even ranked higher than TREK's "City on the Edge of Forever".

Savage Curtain is one of my favorites. There's a lot of world building going on, there's some action, and a new race. And I like the theme of it very much. What is good and what is evil?
It's not my favorite but it's definitely in the top-middle of the pack. Mostly on the strength of an attempt to create an alien race that actually had alien ways of thinking, rather than being humans in funny suits. Of *course* it's difficult to write a completely alien perspective but let's make the attempt.

I think the Gorgon is the lowest point in Star Trek, anyone that ranks that episode above 79th does need to have a good reason.
The concept isn't a bad one, but the implementation sucked. However, space hippies ("The Way To Eden") remains my least favorite episode and I don't see that changing. It's secured to the bottom of the ranking with heavy bolts and a lot of construction adhesive.

EnriqueH, I think they get paid for those. Maybe not much but I can dribble on my keyboard for a few minutes to get a paycheck, where do I sign?
Clickbait puts ads in front of your eyes, and the model works (or people who invested in Facebook, Twitter, etc. would be most unhappy). The easiest clickbait is anything calculated to make some segment angry. Lists of favorites work well for that because some people will always disagree.
