Art Asylum TWOK Enterprise problem

I just picked up the subject ship and can't seem to get the ship to mount properly on the stand provided. Has anyone else picked up this ship? If so were you able to get it mounted on the stand? If you did I'd like to know how because it's not working for me!

I was having a problem mounting it on the stand until I unscrewed the battery cover and forced it in. I was afraid to do it with the Enterprise attached. :bolian:

I ended up carving out a little bit of the plastic from the hole so it would actually be a snug fit. So far it's stayed mounted.

I had this same problem with the original Art Asylum release of the 1701 Refit.

The trick is to unscrew the interior cap on the mounting plate and then fit the ball on the top of the stand up into it.

The problem seems to be with the rubber gasket they use sometimes becoming a bit too narrow when it is tightened down. Once the cap is loose you should be able to get the ball through the gasket with little effort. Remove and then reinstall the entire assembly if necessary.

Then you simply tighten up the screws on the assembly until it secures. Just be extra careful about how much force you apply to the screws when tightening since the plastic looks a bit fragile.

Now, does anyone know of an easy way to get some paint inside the saucer section? The light bleed-through is terrible.

^^^ I think there are some covered-up screw holes on the bottom like there are on the TOS versions, can't remember now. If there are, carefully pop them out with an Xacto knife, unscrew the screws and gently separate the two halves. From there, you should be able to paint the interior, and maybe put in a thin piece of styrene around the edge to block light at the seam. Be careful not to get back-spray on the external paint-job; mask the hell out of it. Good luck and shout out if it works.

Regarding the difficulty of mounting the model to the stand, I've actually had the opposite happen (especially with the original Connie variants - have all 3) where the ball is too loose in the socket and the thing wobbles forward too easily. I had to prop it in my shelf, unfortunately.

^Thanks. I'll have to attempt that after I get my computer sorted out. The hard disk died without any warning.

.
I wish the WOK Enterprise had the same feature as the original Enterprise where you push down the bridge dome and the lights stay on without sound.
