Art and Artistic Talent

J I am sure your songs are very entertaining.

Thanks so much for all the sharing, folks. I am very happy to learn about the talents of my fellow posters.

biotech - nice job! It's fun to learn new things.

That is awesome, biotech! Not only is that a very good Spock but you really mastered the color of the Vulcan sky in that episode. :)

If I have any artistic leanings, it's more in the direction of creative writing. From 1986 to 1993, I wrote a series of short stories based on my own sci-fi universe. In that seven year period, I produced 300 short stories, and four outlines for novels based on it. I thought about trying to get it published, but never felt it was good enough for that, despite family and friends encouraging me in that direction.

As for drawing, I have zero talent in that area. I even suck at stick figures.

My father was a professional artist, primarily a printmaker and painter.

The only visual art that I did until recently was photography. I've been volunteering in a mosaic studio recently, and that's inspired me to experiment with other forms of glass art.

Used to write poetry and play the piano (mostly classical).

I'm more of a hand crafter than artist. I used to be big into painting, sketching and drawing....however, I haven't done anything in a while. I have a half finished painting of snowfall on Staten Island from 2009, another canvas with a Lily sketched on it from 2011. Nothing finished to share as my creativity goes into sewing and such.
Crafting is art, though.

But I agree ... finishing a project is incredibly difficult to do. It's something I consistently struggle with.

I sympathize. I can't tell you how many drawings or short stories I've begun and left unfinished after being distracted by something else, often not even another art project but just some random thing that keeps me from completing what I'm working on.

I'm one of those people who has a hundred ideas but perhaps ten will make it to the finish line - but those ten will be refined until I think they're just right and worthy of being looked at or read, both by myself and by others.

I, too, have numerous WIPs. Or is that WsIP? Hm.

Let me add my encouragement. Contemporary technology and the Internet makes self-publishing very easy. It's a new age. You should get your stuff out there where people can read it.
