OK, I saw a recent episode of CSI: Vegas and I clocked him practically immediately - he was playing a religiously bigoted, misanthropic, and paranoid tenant in a run down, seedy Vegas motel who at first seems to be a villain but turns out to be a relatively harmless crank bullied by the real suspect.

Have you spotted other Trek notables in guest roles from police procedurals? Off the top of my head I think of a younger Jolene Blalock from a very old S1 episode of CSI: Vegas, Bob Picardo playing a security guard in CSI: NY, and Jeri in various comparatively recent L&O guest roles.

I was a huge fan of "Cold Case" and a few actors turned up on that.

Easily the most notable of this was John Billingsley in two episodes as a serial killer who kidnaps women, takes them into the woods, and hunts them with a rifle. The interview scenes were amazing and it's about as far from Phlox as you can get.

Sidenote: I'm convinced they included a tiny Trek-related clue to foreshadow who the killer was. When they question the sporting goods store owner where the then-unidentified doer gets his supplies, he's wearing a ball cap from the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, and this was when the show was still on.

Jeffrey Combs appeared in ep as a racist father.

Picardo was the doer in one ep.

Roxann Dawson was a director and later producer for the show as well.

Casey Biggs was in the CSI episode "Iced" in 2005 as "Mr. Wilmont," and in the CSI:Miami episode "Forced Entry" in 2003 playing "Dean Johnson."

Nana Visitor was in the CSI episode "Mea Culpa" in 2004 as "Mrs. Garbett-Katz."

He was in a recurring role on Da Vinici's Demons.

I remember Nana Visitor making a cameo in an earlier series of CSI: Las Vegas.

Alexander Siddig plays the King in Atlantis(I know it's not a police procedural), which is due back on the BBC in September/October time.

Tim Russ made a brief appearance in an episode of NCIS, it was the same episode that ''Tucker'' was in.
