Arena, and that totally awesome fight scene

I love that fight in arena. It pretty much sums up the whole of all of Star trek...sort of.

I loved the way that the gorn was hugely strong but physically slow. I was a bit annoyed when the CGI gorn in ENT seemed to be really speedy.

Maybe the ENT Gorn was a juvenile, or at least a young adult, while the TOS Gorn was a mature adult. That seemed to be the going theory around the ENT offices, at least according to official reports.

It might just be that the TOS Gorn was more muscular, like Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime, and the ENT was more lean and toned, like Lance Armstrong.

Just because one person is physically built for power doesn't mean that any other cannot be built for speed and endurance.

That said, however, I did like the TOS Gorn over the ENT one. Seriously, I love ENT, but would it have killed them to put someone in a modern costume instead of using CGI?

Could also be that the arena in "Arena" was a typically chilly early morning desert, while the corridors of the Defiant were at a balmy 25 Celsius. Or vice versa; perhaps the Gorn are slowed down by high rather than low temperatures?

The "Arena" Gorn fight could only have been better as a three-way featuring Adam West Batman.

The CG Gorn in ENT was a bit weak. I liked the STXI Gorn seen on the "Aliens" DVD extra - that was cool. I think it was meant to be a background inmate in the Rura Penthe prison yard.

I also liked the Mini-Gorn Tressaurians from Starship Exeter

The ENT Gorn was lame. It never happened. It wasn't a Gorn... It was a bright green Velociraptor.

I loved the TOS fight scene, but always laugh at how the Gorn sounded like it was totally constipated.

That episode and fight holds a special place in my heart. It was one of the first I remember as a little kid watching in front of the tv with a tv dinner.

The Gorn creeped me out back then and then despite all that takes place Kirk spared him.

It's funny when they used to mention the baseball leagues on Cestus III in DS9 as an avid Yankee fan I could almost see the Pike City Pioneers standuim sprinkled in alongside the Fed colonists, a few Gorn fans here and there cheering their favorite team along, complete with banners, Gorn sized jerseys and Hats.

Not to mention the concession cries moving through the stands as well "Beer Here!!....Peanuts!....Live Rodents!...Cracker Jack!...Beer Here!"

I know its goofy, but the images stuck as soon as I recognized the planet name.

Kinda' makes the "Mirror Darkly" version a bit more "authentic" in comparison, doesn't it?
