Are you planning on seeing the film in IMAX??

I would go see it maybe on second viewing, but the closest IMAX is in Halifax, about 4 hours away.

I'd love to see it that way. But there aren't any IMAX theaters remotely close to where I live.

Umm... let me see... drive an hour to Charlotte... deal with crime, traffic, parking... :alienblush:
No, I'd rather see it at the local cinema.:techman:

I might watch it a second time on IMAX.

Not the first though.

Same here. I shall play it safe as my nearest IMAX theater is located within Louisville, that's a 50 mile drive. It would be a waste of my time and money IF Trek XI flops.

NO...

I love TREK, I really do....

But I'm not paying $15 bucks (the cost of an IMAX ticket around here) to see ANY movie I can't take home with me!
(call me cheap, but a single-earner paycheck doesn't go as far as it used too!)

It's bad enough one has to pay $8 to $10 dollars now to get kicked in the back (several times)... soda and/or popcorn dumped on ya... some fat person with a big head blocking yer view... and another $25 bucks for yer own popcorn/soda/candy.

I'll go on the first day to the first matinée ($6 to $7 dollars), sneak in a big package of TWIZZLERS ($2.00) and then wait for the $19.94 DVD to be available at WALMART by Christmas '09.
(Actually this Trek Movie might be the first Blu-Ray DVD I buy. So if it's really good, I'll dish out a few extra bucks for that.)

If they show it in IMAX in Charlotte, I want to go with my Dad. He and I used to watch TOS together as a kid. This will be a great family outing.

Re: IMAX!

That's according to coming soon.

Now if only there was an IMAX theater here in Albuquerque...
Since we've got an IMAX thread going, I'll just move this over there. Hang on...

Re: IMAX!

I don't know if I will or not. It is not being shown in true IMAX but in what is called IMAX DMR which creates a 70 mm print without actually being filmed in an official IMAX camera.

The differences are, a slightly larger, (but not clearer) image, it won't fill screen like true IMAX does, and better sound. Imo the difference does not justify the $5 - $7 higher ticket price.

That said, if after the first screening I like the film immensely, I might see it in IMAX to help support it financially.
