Odd question... but I'm in the mood to ask.. what do they do with the excess skin?

Clinical waste? Secret pleasures? Same deal as the placenta cooking thing?

I hear they make leather wallets out of them...

^ This is the last one I promise! :p

I mean, surely you'd start to notice some issues after SIX MONTHS of not washing your cock. One year, definitely. 10 years? God, can you imagine it? If not the discomfort, the STENCH.

HOW THE HELL DO YOU GO FORTY FUCKING YEARS WITHOUT WASHING YOUR PENIS

I guess if you never have sex or pullt the foreskin right back, and you generally are unclean anyway you might just never notice. Remember, some people in this world just don't wash at all, let alone wash their dick.
True.

Many people are used to their own stench and don't even notice it. Remember the posts we have about how some even here don't wash their hands after using the rest room? If you can't be bothered to wash your hands, what else are they too lazy to wash properly?
Pigpen ain't just a cartoon character anymore.

I'm in serious answer mode today so here goes. It's actually used for research, they collect cells off it for culture.

And I suspect one of the reasons circumcision took off in infants is because of a not fun little problem called Phimosis where the foreskin won't detract causing horrible pain with an erection. The only cure then is circumcision but when one is much older and well rather afraid.

Tsar Peter the III had it and kept refusing circumcision for a while so he remained a virgin til they eventually talked him into it, then Catherine the Great had him killed.

I doubt that Phimosis, something that is very rare (0.6% of boys according to the first source I found in a quick search) would be a reason why circumcision "took off" in popularity.

All it takes is one case and parents freak about it - it's one of the constants of the universe.

I find the idea of that hilarious.

"Oh no, what shall we do? Teach him how to wash his wang?"

"No! Cut it off! Or, y'know, the tip of it..."
You can't trust the cleanliness standards of boys, don'tcha know
I've seen a couple of quite unbelieveable pictures of men who just didn't realise you have to wash under there. You wouldn't believe anybody could not realise that but it happens.

40 years of smegma build up does NOT look pretty
:wtf:

um

What?

I mean, wouldn't it get... itchy?
Some guys wouldn't notice the difference.

This is quite possibly the most disgusting thing I've ever read on this board.

Hope this guy isn't looking for a blowjob in his future. Because chances are, it' ain't gonna happen for him.

Just sayin'....

Some very interesting statistics here, guys. And actually, quite surprising, given my own experience.

I've never slept with a guy who wasn't circumcised....and given that I grew up in a time when there wasn't any such thing as 'safe sex' and AIDS, this is saying quite a bit. Let's just say I am well into the double digits in terms of sexual partners.

Only one Brit in the bunch though, and he was Jewish so he'd have been circumcised regardless. I even have two guys 'on my list' ( :p ) who were born on Mexico, and even they were circumcised.

I am really surprised at the percentage of guys here who aren't.

EDIT: Oops! Remembered another Brit. This one not Jewish, but circumcised too.

I'd better stop thinking about this now.... :p Either that, or make a pie chart.

There are a lot of theories but the fact is that in numerous civilzations around the world and throughout history have all relied upon circumcision in many cases as part of a becoming a man ceremony so there's some pull to it.

I've heard too that it continues to be a major practice in America because guys want their sons to look just like them.

I would guess, at least, that the majority of men in the UK are not circumsised yet I have not heard of any mass outbreak of penile infections.

Unless there is an immediate medical problem that warrants it, the whole issue of circumcision being done as 'standard procedure' in the US, I feel, is a tradition of genital mutilation.

The result is a permanent disfigurement.

Health and cleanliness reasons aren't used as much anymore, though some people will still say that's why they have it done to their kid. More often now the explanations given are for tradition and for cosmetic reasons.

I once went out with an American woman, and she was fascinated by my foreskin, she kept playing with it and saying it looked like a flower opening up... I guess this thread, to a certain extent, explains why.

Thought you didn't have medical bills in the UK. :p

Not for what is considered to be elective cosmetic surgery. If you could convince them it was causing you serious psychological problems they might do it for free though.

I know you were being facetious, but that is the serious answer :p

We (generally) don't, although you can pay privately/get insurance for treatment, especially for cosmetic reasons, and circumcision is only done for medical and religious reasons. I believe the circumcision rate is quoted as low as 3%.
