Are you addicted to the Internet?

I'm drawn to the parts of the Internet I consider indispensable to my current daily routines.

Most notably, I wouldn't be able to go far without e-mail, news feeds, catch-up TV and radio, and podcasts. Concerning the latter few, I'd say that I'm probably more addicted to radio than the Internet.

At a stretch, I could go to the local library to research something for my own use, although since connecting to the Net, learning and research on the Internet and through various intranets has played an incredibly major part of my life. I'd say that even this was for the most part indispensable.

Some aspects, such as news, I do get mostly from the Net nowadays, although I can get them from other outlets so I wouldn't say I couldn't live without internet news.

A few things I enjoy on the Net are things I can go without (and indeed have done so) for several months: Facebook, KOL, TrekBBS...

Overall, I find that my Internet usage drops drastically whenever I find something better to do.

I use the internet quite a bit, but when I'm busy doing other things, I don't miss it or feel the need to log on.

It's a tool, mainly, for me with a bit of chatty stuff like this board and a couple of others added on top. I don't do social networking sites, and tend to use email more for business/memo type communication than conversation. Even my blog is more of way of forcing myself to refine/explore interesting thoughts that come to mind, rather than a communication/publication medium as such.

The United Nations were pushing for the internet to be included into the new standard of living. - So they bought loads of laptops and gave them to schools in the 'third world' to try and up it, in 2006.

I'm addicted to the web as much as I'm addicted to roads, water supply, electricity, and waste collection.

It's just part of modern infrastructure, makes my life easier and talking about "addiction" in that context just seems absurd to me.

wait you are still calling this the internet?

that is so double O'ish this be the net. netizens

addicted I got over my addiction during a complete net detox in 1999 we knew about the addition to neting and such and just figured if we could separate ourselves from this addictiveness long enough to regain control we would and do regain control..

Back then there were the sensational stories of people never losing touch with the net.

I'd have to say a begrudging "yes".

I'm not addicted in the sense that get I the freaking shakes when i haven't been on for a long while, but I've become used to it. My computer is the first thing I turn on after turning off the alarm in the morning, and the last thing I turn off before I turn off my night lamp before going to bed in the evening.

Trough the Internet I have learned and discussed so many various things, I've gotten to know a lot of great people and a few crazy ones, I've shared my written works, explored my sexuality trough the tons of porn and erotica on it, and played way too many hours of online games.

Here's the down low: I remember a time before the Internet, my little brother does not. It's becoming a sort of generational thing.
