Are there wery rich trekkies out there?

I'm sorry! I don't think we are thinking about the same thing, here.

I thought Anji is talking about the British royal family.

I feel for these people because my grandmother was involve with some of the royal family, rich and aristocratic family in Thailand.

So,with this thread are you saying that only poor people like Star Trek???

Isn't the general non Trekkie persception that we're all sad fat 40 y/o virgins who live in our parents' basement playing with dolls and wearing silly costumes?

I was at a Con in England years ago and some university student left a questionaire for people to fill out. It had questions like "If I miss an episode of Star Trek I..."
A try to kill myself
B seriously think about killing myself
C self harm
D cry
E throw things around the room
F hit the person standing closest to me
G not bother

I may not have gotten the wording right, but basically this person was making out like we were all psychologically disturbed. In the 'comment's box nearly everyone put "really insulted"

Ultimately they discovered the 'average' Trekkie was a married woman who had a job and didn't obsess all the live long day over the show, nor did they dress as a character in their day to day life

Paul Allen, formerly of Microsoft. Even built his own science fiction museum.

Yeah I bid on Kirk's chair and was up to $10,000 when Paul Allen out-bid me...

I did eventually get this one...

Rich is relative. At the Nashville they had auctions on three different days, mostly for autographed pictures. I thought I was rich because I came up with $200 to spend and attended 2 of the 3 auctions. Someone in the row behind me spent about $2,000 on autographs during those two days. I don't know how much they spent at the auction I missed. I was thinking "must be rich".

I would imagine that rich people absolutely love Star Trek. One of your peers down at the country club has his own island, a little one ups-manship and you buy a planet like Flint did.

They can watch the show and dream of being a wealthy mining tycoon like Ezri's mother.

:)
