Are there any Section 31 books worth buying?

Shadow: By Dean Wesley Smith is a good read.

Rogue: By Andy Mangels and Mike Martin is also excellent.

Here's the full list though with the descriptions.

Section 31

Hope it helps.

Rogue: By Andy Mangels and Mike Martin is also excellent.

I second this recommendation. I enjoyed this an awful lot

Rogue by Andy Mangels & Michael A. Martin, Abyss by Jeffery Lang & David Weddle, and Cloak by S.D. Perry are all very good books.

Well, now we've covered all four books. Yay TrekBBS! I liked the three I've read, and I'm sure Shadow is decent, too. Start with the series you like the best, flux_29. If you like that, then consider the others.

The Good That Men Do, also by Mangels and Martin, could've easily been considered as the ENT volume of the S31 series, and I highly recommend it.

Also, A Time to Kill and A Time to Heal by David Mack, while not focused on 31, does have a major 31 sub-plot running throughout.

^I'm reading A Time to Heal right now, and it and Kill are both absoultely amazing books. I can't reccomend them highly enough.

Thanks u've all been a great help, i'll probobly order Cloak, Abyss and Rogue for christmas then (never been to much intressted in the voyager books).

^ The Voyager entry was the weakest of the bunch, IMHO. The device used to get 31 involved with a starship on the other side of the galaxy was contrived and the 31 plot and 'local problem' plot didn't mesh well. Quite honestly, I think they should just not have done a VOY instalment in this series, just as they probably ought to have skipped the TOS and CHA instalments for Gateways. Better to have more limited 'events' than try to force the device to fit the circumstances.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

^ As was said above, The Good That Men Do is pretty much the Enterprise Section 31 book.

Something that may have finally convinced me to pick it up. :D

I don't suppose we can hope for an Enterprise installment of the Section 31 series? ;)
I think the S31 series was just a limited miniseries that they were doing at that one time. So I doubt we will be getting anymore installments.

Theoretically, there's no reason why there couldn't be more books under the Section 31 rubric, just as there has been an additional Lost Era novel (sort of) and another one in the works after that. But as others have pointed out, we already pretty much have an ENT Section 31 novel (by the authors of the TNG S31 novel), so does it really matter whether we get another one that's explicitly labeled as such?

That's right. I keep forgetting that The Buried Age is considered a Lost Era book. So the Sisko LE book is still in the works then?

As far as I know. Generally there's no reason to believe a pending project has been cancelled unless it's been specifically announced that it was cancelled. Some things just take a long time to get going.

I was browsing through the Library they were having a fund raising sale, and found all the Section 31 books, and all the Dominion War Books among others on sale dirt cheap. Bought 'em and can't wait to read them. It pays to support your local library :)

I suppose TGTMD was sufficient. I had forgotten that in ENT's time frame, Section 31 wasn't as "evil" as it later became.
