Are the TNG Crew Kinda Mean?

The crew were mean to Barclay in his first ep, but I just watched Realm of Fear and they're incredibly supportive of him - he runs out of the transporter room in a panic just before he's due to join them on an away mission, and even Riker gives him a non-sarcastic and warm "glad to have you with us, Reg" when he finally - presumably about an hour late - beams over. Geordi checks in with him several times during the ep and, when Barclay first mentions seeing something in the transporter beam, he doesn't scoff but says they'll run a diagnostic on the equipment. The only "conflict" comes when O'Brien and LaForge get a bit heated debating transporter malfunctions (or the lack thereof) with him and when Troi relieves him of duty, but at that point he was refusing medical advice.

Yeeeaaah... that's after he became a supergenius, took over the ship, & scared the CRAP outta everybody. I can imagine that having a bit of a humbling effect on some of the snottier shipmates lol
