I really don't see why that violates continuity. The Constitution class is much larger than the Defiant class despite being over 100 years older, but that doesn't mean there's a continuity problem.

^Oh, I agree - but you try telling that to the people in the Tech or TOS forums!
Oddly enough, as long as New Frontier was focusing on characters that didn't appear in other series and set in a region of space no other series ever focused on, it was reasonable easy to fit in with the Trek Lit universe proper.
Now, I just kind of assume the 'crazy' of NF doesn't always happen in the same universe the rest of Trek Lit does.
For example, every time Donatra & Tal'Aura were mentioned doing anything in the novels, I kept thinking to myself... where the hell is Soleta and her ghostship?
Old NF was great, New NF has been kinda kooky.
Still like Calhoun as a character though.

I agree, I prefer NF on the frontier, kind of away from main events in the other books. But I did love Calhoun's cameo in "Before Dishonor". He was right that Starfleet needs a commodore rank.
Nechayev's death and that she was an imposter bothered me, but I've accepted crazier things. I enjoyed that Blind Man's Bluff showed the Doctor having feelings for 7. He went through the show with feelings for her and I don't think those feelings were ever resolved.

I think that Blind Man's Bluff has Jellico back - maybe he just stood down the CIC position but is still working at Headquarters?

Actually it looks like he is just ignoring that rank no longer being used since he had a commodore in Blind Mans' Bluff.

I thought it was sometime between Destiny and Losing The Peace.
This is part of the reason I tend to think of NF as taking place in an alternate reality. I understand all kinds of stories can fit into the Trek universe, but at times the tone of NF was just so different from the rest that at times it's hard to believe it's in the same universe as DS9 or Titan or TNG or VGR. And there's also the fact that there'd be huge galaxy/Federation changing events in other books, and we'd never hear a thing about it in NF.
Maybe it was just my mind filling in the blanks to make it line up with the other books, but I was left with the impression that the Nechayev in BMB was an impostor, and that the real Nechayev was still out there somewhere.
Perhaps not. But at some point she had a doppleganger.
Perhaps many characters we've never met. It's a big universe.
And by that I meant of the Admirals we already knew. They've basically removed most of the admirals anyone would of had a connection to.
