Are new fans different from we "original" fans?

One tactic is to do what I do. Embrace the role of the curmudgeon, revel in it, and gleefully point out when these pipsqueaks are full of it.

Ah, I see, so when you said that the new fans didn't even really like Trek, were you KIDDING?

I was being literal. There were several posts, with yours among them, that admitted that you were not fans of Star Trek, and therefore thought the changes in the feel of the movie was a good thing.

Since you've admitted on this forum that you're not a fan of Star Trek, how can this remotely be viewed as an insult?

So much for not attacking anyone who likes the new Trek.

I never said anything like that.

I said TOS was not my *favorite* Trek. Big difference there.

Because, hard as it may be for you to believe, there are kinds of Trek other than TOS.

Again, where's my attack?

Because, hard as it may be for you to believe, there are kinds of Trek other than TOS.

And here's the actual insult, and an assumption being made which does not actually apply in my case.

This new movie is about 'Star Trek', as in, a 're-visitation' of the original series. You would think that it would try to appeal most to the target audience, fans of the original series. Instead, what I'm seeing 'round these parts is a drawing of the battle-lines mostly done by 'NuBSG' fans who insult, harass, and threaten Star Trek fans who may have concerns about the direction the new movie is going.
