One thing that has remained with me all these years, since first seeing it back in the early 70's, is that Lawgiver, and his statement, that kills me...'' YOU WILL BE AB-SORBED''....LOL. I've seen 'Marplon'(Torin Thatcher) in several old tv series/films recently.

"Absorbed'" . . . "assimilated" . . . Hmmm.

Okay, there's nothing in the episode to support that.

Very true! I was going beyond the "text." Remember, TOS was pretty far out sci-fi for its time and so I think we sometimes need to put on our "far-out" spectacles to help us gain a better perspective on what may at first seem lame. Just my opinion, but I find this approach to be like a comfortable warm blanket for my brain and it helps me to enjoy TOS even more.

Whoa, holy crap, you're right! I always assumed that they were feeding Vaal "food" -- and there was no reason to think otherwise based on the TV screens on which I saw TOS while growing up... but the HD TrekCore screencaps show that they're holding the exploding rocks!
