Regardless of whether or not he swaggered, Archer was definitely not an overbearing tin-plated dictator with delusions of godhood.
I did notice on my rewatch of Enterprise a few years back Archer's restlessness. Like, he hardly EVER sits in the Captain's chair. And if he does, it's only for a few seconds, then he's up moving around again
Now, Mirror Archer swaggered. That guy wanted to be an overbearing dictator with delusions of godhood.
I still feel like Bakula portrayed a guy who was not only 'learning on the job', he was quite literally inventing the job as he went. And to that end, I think the actor did a bang-up job, mistakes and all.
And we all know Kira surreptitiously fondled his ball whenever she thought no-one was looking... or when she was left in-charge.

Archer just had adult add or something which is why he related so much to the flightiness of gazelles. It was truly amazing that he managed to learn to crawl and become a captain while having this disability.
Having adult add as a child must be debilitating.
