APRIL ART CHALLENGE -- Hydrospace!

I've been wanting to do this one for a while. Years ago I read a non-fiction science book by Martin Caidin (Author of "Cyborg") called "Hydrospace". It was about the state of undersea exploration technology at the time (around the mid-sixties) and his ideas about how the seas might be explored in the future. As with all such predictions, some came true, but most didn't.

Now it's your turn to do the predicting. Your mission - should you choose to accept it - is to depict how the Federation (or Earth, if you set your work in the ENT era) would explore the oceans of a class-M world. What equipment would they take? What ships or vehicles would they use? Would the assignment go mainly to aquatic lifeforms or any lifeform that would fit in an environmment suit? Your work should be a snapshot depicting "Voyage to the Bottom of the Q'Onos Sea" or "Sealab 2390". Something to that effect.

As always, end of the month is the end of the contest and be sure to email your completed entries to Ptrope before the deadline.

Great idea! I've already got some thoughts running through my head - undersea is truly the "final frontier."

H'lo? (tap, tap) This thing on?

I'm just a little concerned because we're at the last week of the challenge and I've only seen a couple of WIP threads for it so far. Hopefully, that just means we'll just be surprised by the huge number of entries in the final poll, but either way Thursday's the end, so make sure you've got your entries to Ptrope by then.

i have an excellent idea, but haven't had any time to execute it. much less the talent, but that's hardly the point. :)

sent! :D

Yay! I see more entries! Now I'm happy! :D

And pleasantly surprised that ev'r'body seems to be doodlin' their entries instead of breakin' out the big macha 3D programs...so far. Obviously, there could always be a slew of last minute 3D entries in the final poll, which would be fine.

OOPS! When I wrote that i'd completely missed Klaus's entry thread:alienblush:...so 3Ders are already well rep'd.
