April 8: One Month to Go!

Dr. Chandra

Captain
Captain
It's finally only a month away! I've been waiting my whole life for this...this day of reckoning. Hopefully the naysayers will fade away.

I'm taking the day off work, buying the wife some flowers as a bribe to come with me, buying early tickets and waiting for the movie to start. All before 9 AM, I hope. :techman:

Anyone else?

Now, given that there are "world premieres" happening in a number of cities between now and then, do you suppose that the studio will really manage to maintain complete control over every copy of the film for a month and thus avoid the dreaded torrent release? ;)

I read that Hugh Jackman is super pissed that a rough copy of his Wolverine movie got out early. I guess there's no getting around it. We can only refuse to view the bootleg stuff and support the movies we like.

I'll be there whenever the first showing is around me, probably a midnight release or something, I'll be there can't wait!

I now know I will probably see it 3 times, one with my friends at IMAX, one with my family, and another time with my sisters.

I'm going to try to convince my sister to go, she usually doesn't like SCIFI movies and all, but I'm gonna try, I'll tell her "Forget Everything You Know" :p

My step-brother lives in New Zealand, he'll be seeing it like a day before me!

I plan to see it probably 3 times in the first weekend myself!

I'll also go the following weekend.

No, one week to go. :techman:

I just printed my tickets to the European Tour premiere in Brussels on 15 April. John Cho and Karl Urban will be attending.

I hope so, because I'm far too weak to not watch it if it's available before the theatrical release.

I have plans with one of my closest friends to go the opening weekend and make a night of it! Provided he can make it into town the first week of May and his plans don't change. But either way I'm seeing the movie the first few days or so it's out even if I'm not the type to brave long, long lines and big crowds on opening nights.

I will not watch it even if it leaks.
Because if it leaks it will most likely be a shitty cam quality with bad sound.

Who wants to see the new movie like that for the first time ? My need for quality at this point outweighs my curiosity

I wouldn't object to watching the movie online if someone leaked it. That wouldn't in any way affect my paying to see it. After all, a bootlegged copy running online, even a good one, can never be the same as watching the movie in a theater.

By the way...

Does anyone know where I can get a good set of Spock ears before the release? (Just kidding. :D )

I'll be there, as my Girl will be - friends are going, so we are showing our support...I'll see this at least twice in Imax, and probably again on a regular screen...

If it rocks, I'll go back a few days later. I saw GENERATIONS four times between November '94 and January '95. That tells you how addicted to certain movies I can get if they come out at the right time and I'm in just the right mood.

Just have keep telling myself ''1 month to go, just ONE month to go''..dear GOD I'm jonsen here! I need my trek fix NOW ARGH!!!

<little girl scream> Eeeeeeeeeeeee! I'm so excited!

Finally, MY Star Trek returns. I see this as sweet redemption. :)

I'll be in Arizona on vacation (God willing and the creek don't rise, and all that). I am hoping that the theater in Sedona will have a midnight premiere. Though I've been to a few midnight shows (including Insurrection when it came out), I've never been to a midnight premiere of any film. If midnight in Sedona doesn't pan out, I may try for a matinee on the 8th in Phoenix.
