Appriciation for 'Fair Trade' Art Direction and Make-Up!

Roald

Fleet Captain
I recenly rewatched 'Fair Trade', and I was stunned by the beautiful art direction and make-up of this episode..! The space station looks like a big worn-out place, and almost every humanoid alien you see there has a full face mask, not just a bump on a forehead. I think it's a great episode, and the visual elements really enhance it..!

Not only great visual effects, but an interesting story. We really get the sense that Voyager has moved a significant distance, beyond Kazon, and Vidian space, into an area that even the locals haven't mapped yet.

"The Nekrit expanse".

I also happen to love then end.

JANEWAY: What was it? What was so important that you were willing to throw away your principles?
NEELIX: I needed a map.
JANEWAY: A map!
NEELIX: Captain, my usefulness to you was at an end. I don't know anything about space beyond this point. I couldn't let you go into the Nekrit Expanse without knowing what you faced.
JANEWAY: You've been on this ship for two years. I'd think by now you'd have learned the first duty of any Starfleet officer is to the truth. You violated that duty, Neelix, and there will be consequences.
NEELIX: I'm prepared to leave the ship, Captain.
JANEWAY: Oh, no, it's not that easy. You can't just walk away from your responsibilities just because you made a mistake. You're part of a family now and you have obligations.
NEELIX: But, I can't guide you, I can't advise you. I don't know what's coming.
JANEWAY: Well that's not the point, is it? None of us knows what's coming. That's what Starfleet is all about. We are all in this together, Neelix, and we have to be able to count on each other no matter how hard it gets. Do you understand?

I like Fair Trade a lot. It's a good story and as the thread starter pointed out - also production was to the point.

Good, good, good. :)

Yeah, was a good one.

I had my problems with Voyager, but episodes like this are why I kept watching.

No, but he's been accepted as a member of a Starfleet crew and he's aware of how things work on a Starfleet vessel. Its kind of like your parents telling you "As long as you live under my roof, young man, you will abide by our rules."
