Appreciation Thread: Kurtwood Smith

^ Season seven of 24 opens with a hearing where they question Jack Bauer about the actions he's been willing to take to stop terrorism. If you go to YouTube and watch the season seven preview (which has a major spoiler if you don't already know, but on the other hand they've been using it as a big selling point), Smith plays the senator leading the investigation. Doesn't look to be a big part though.

I love Robocop, and Clarence is a great character "can you fly Bobby?"
But he'll forever be Annorax to me. I always call his charatcer in Robocop Annorax anyway :D

I started a thread once about what Annorax would sound like if he talked like Red. Got some good replies:

"Give my regards to Captain Dumbass!"

"Obrist! Get your bony butt over here and fix the temporal core!"

"Time to put my foot up Time's ass."

"Whadd'ya mean, there's an "unaccounted for" anomaly in the time continuum?!?!? What a bunch of crap. Don't make me have to put my foot up your ass!"

Kurtwood Smith is great! Always has been. It Star Trek, Robocop, That 70's show, whatever you put him in, he rocks! I always liked him.

Best TV Dad ever.

"Your asses just hung out a vacancy sign, and my foot is looking for a room."
:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

I LOVE That 70's Show and he was one of the main reasons! Too funny!

The one where they got in trouble about smoking pot and (I'll paraphrase) it went something like this:

Kitty: There are all kinds of things you can do; couseling, rehab."
Red: My foot in your ass.

:guffaw::guffaw:

Or the one where they were playing a game and the question was whose shoe would you want to be and why?

Donna: I wouldn't want to be Red's shoe right now because it's about to be up somebody's ass. :lol::lol:

Kurtwood Smith has been an actor I've always respected, ever since seeing him as Clarence Boddicker in Paul Verhoeven's original '87 RoboCop.

But the one Star Trek performance that I think tends to be rather underrated, falling by the wayside somewhat, is his performance as the Cardassian "Thrax" in the fifth-season DS9 episode Things Past. What's really cool about Smith's performance is that he's really playing...somebody else, but his performance is just subtle enough that it's not terribly obvious.

I was surprised he was given a fairly minor role in DS9 as Thrax in that ep, someone of his callibre should have been in it a lot more.
Maybe that's why they brought him back on VOY the year later?

Indeed? And who is the somebody else he is really playing?

That didn't even SLIGHTLY look like the lead singer of The Police. :lol:

But it WAS pretty stupid-funny anyway! :techman:
