Yes, it's a thread asking for help on the crappy Apple Mighty Mouse. And no, it's not the usual issue.
The scroll ball in the middle was not working on mine and I decided to clean it; a little bit of Googling, and I went with a combination of cleaning out the socket with a toothpick and some paper followed by rolling the ball around on some paper with rubbing alcohol. It worked well, insofar as it restored my scroll ball functionality, but also seems to have broken the left and right click sensors, meaning that now every click I make registers as a middle-click (I have the interface set up as primary button/button 3/secondary button in the preferences pane). The mouse has been sitting drying for hours, so I doubt there's any alcohol left in there that could be shorting anything out.
So, two questions: first, has this happened to anyone else who can give me some clue on what I might have broken and how I might fix it, and second, does anybody know the key commands to change the button settings in the System Preferences pane of OS 10.5? I can get as far as pulling up the "Keyboard & Mouse" pane, but I can't change any of the button assignments without a working mouse; if I can't fix the hardware, then I could at least remap the buttons to use the middle-click as the primary button.
Any help is much appreciated.
