Apple Goes After Toy Company For Making Lifelike Steve Jobs Figurine

Re: Apple Goes After Toy Company For Making Lifelike Steve Jobs Figuri

And we're not talking about someone who was just a founder of a company he was the figurehead of that company. Its spokesperson. He was the very image of that company. Whenever a new product rolled out his image was there, on stage, showing it off.

This isn't the faceless, barely known CEO, of Conglomco or something along those lines. This was a man whom millions or billions of people saw and connected with Apple.

Er... do you know any of that for a fact? Because corporations do not gain the rights to the faces of individuals no matter how important said individual was to the company. It's much more likely that Apple is doing this on behalf of the Jobs estate or perhaps Jobs specifically left the rights to his image to Apple. But without knowing whatever arrangement went on between Jobs, his family and Apple it's all just supposition.

Yes, I know for a fact that Steve Jobs was a figure head for Apple and promoted product releases in very exposed forums and that he was not a faceless CEO of some company.

He very much was the face of the company, more so than most other companies.

So, supposition then. Got it.

Edit: To be a little more clear, corporations do not automatically gain the rights to any person's face regardless of what they did for said corporation. Such a right must be signed over in some sort of contract.

Doesn't look like supposition to me

Where exactly in those images does it say that Apple was transfered full legal ownership of Steve Jobs' image?

You called "Yes, I know for a fact that Steve Jobs was a figure head for Apple and promoted product releases in very exposed forums and that he was not a faceless CEO of some company."

He very much was the face of the company, more so than most other companies"

Supposition

What does that have to with the owner of his image debate?

Re: Apple Goes After Toy Company For Making Lifelike Steve Jobs Figuri

No. I called the idea that Apple was magically transferred the rights to Jobs' image without him singing it over supposition. My apologies if that was not clear.

Yes, it was not clear by the fact the posts you quoted made no such claims.

Re: Apple Goes After Toy Company For Making Lifelike Steve Jobs Figuri

It was perfectly clear in the context of the conversation.

Re: Apple Goes After Toy Company For Making Lifelike Steve Jobs Figuri

This is in bad taste on all accounts. :klingon:

I really don't see what is bad taste about it. People dead and alive have action figures made of them all the time. The doll isn't mocking him or anything like that.

I think it's a nice tribute if anything, especially for those owning the doll, if you are into that sort of thing.

Re: Apple Goes After Toy Company For Making Lifelike Steve Jobs Figuri

I'd rather have a non-posable statue. Those tend to have better quality sculpting, especially for over $100.

Re: Apple Goes After Toy Company For Making Lifelike Steve Jobs Figuri

I'd be surprised if Apple can even do anything to that company, seeing as they're in China.
