They hid it on Saturday nights so I wouldn't be surprised if everyone's bailed. But against all expectations, it's turned out to be better than The Gates and Haven, which are derivative and personality-free. At least Persons Unknown doesn't seem to be cobbled together from parts of other TV shows that weren't good to begin with.
Joe turning out to be the "mole" raises the interesting question of whether the experiment is really focused on him and the Chinese maitre'd. They kidnapped the others randomly; they aren't directly part of whatever the experiment is. They were just trying a range of types to see who Joe would gravitate to. He bonded with Janet immediately but not with Tori; I gotta wonder if that's why Tori was killed? She was redundant to their experiment.
Kandyse McClure is very convincing as a bad-ass, which I would never have pegged her for, and her ploy to get Joe to talk was smart. So many shows like this have people not being smart in the least. The used-car guy going berzerk makes perfect sense. Why don't they all just burn down the town or something?
Meanwhile, back in the real world, the journalist/ex-husband plotline is still annoying and dopey, and it doesn't help that the guy playing the ex is terrible. He's competing with Deputy Dull from Haven for the title of Worst Actor on TV Today, but he's even more annoying because he mugs way too much. But his girlfriend is good - loved the distraction stunt she pulled with the ice sculpture - and Mexico City (I think) is a basically believable stand-in for Rome. It's fun just seeing a different place on TV. I get sick of the eternal round robin of LA, NY and various Canadian locations pretending to be American.
