Anyone rewatching any old shows during quarantine?

I watched seasons 1-9 in no time, but the last few years where it became a drama I just can't watch as quickly. I gave up about 5 episodes before the finale.

I find it the same way, but it's easy to remember the dramatics overall and also easy to forget there was still great material in almost every episode. I skipped 3 or 4 episodes in the last few seasons, but finished it off.

I do prefer the zaniness of the first 5 seasons, and moreso the first 3. Which is why, when I want a quick MASH fix, I go with season 3, then 2, then 1, then 4, then 5, in that order. And I wasn't even watching episodes back in the day for the first time until season 4 or 5.

I always watch old shows anyway. I'm watching F-Troop or Cowboy Bebop during breakfast. I Spy or Rawhide during lunch. I have Name of the Game on deck for lunch and Ghost in the Shell and Wanted Dead or Alive on deck for breakfast. I have a ton of old shows on DVD to keep going with - Danger Man, Rat Patrol, The Rookies, Kung Fu...

At face value, it is not an inviting show, nor are most of the players, when you paste them together for an ad. Most of the characters are largely unappealing people on the surface, a narcissist, an old racist, an Aspy, an SJW, etc... & not in any kind of ludicrously absurdly funny way, as with something like It's always Sunny in Philadelphia. No, they're dislikability is much realer lol

It's only after you get to watching it, that you begin to see the layer beneath that is innovative writing & then you better appreciate the performances. You can't put the meta shit from that show in an ad. Some people probably wouldn't even be able to digest it from just one episode. It's a slow burn, & the world around them is lunacy, so that doesn't help the presentation either
My wife and I watched the first season. I enjoyed it for its silliness, and like some of the people. My wife hated it because she found all the characters annoying rather than entertaining.

And it would honestly be easy to see it that way. In a weird way, most of them are supposed to be kind of unappealing. Plus, I don't think they'd found their stride yet in season one. 2 & 3 are much better imho

I like seasons 3-8 because I really like the cast. But rewatching it in order for probably the first time in my life, I really love 1-8. The last few seasons there are very few laughs. Still a great show just I'm not watching serious shows right now, too depressing. I just finished Veep and will continue with Bob's Burger next.

It's not really a rewatch thread, but thank you. :)

Sorry, I misspoke. Those of us who have seen all or most of SG-1 before are vicariously enjoying your first watch-through, reminding us of why we liked it in the first place! COMET started showing SG-1 from the beginning last week, so I'm rewatching as well. Just finished up season 1. So your thread is also timely! ;)

I was at the library the day before they shut everything down and managed to snag a copy of 'The Complete WKRP in Cincinnati' and have slowly been making my way through it. I'd forgotten how much good music they managed to include in each episode and thanks to Shout! Factory this has about 80-90% of the music restored. (The previous DVD collection used 'sound-alike' music or cut scenes entirely.) I also think it's one of the few sitcoms where everything just fell right into place from the first episode. 'As God as my witness, I thought turkey's could fly'.
I too am re-watching WKRP currently, except I own my copy, the complete series version that came out back in 2014. Where are you? I'm on the third disk of season three. I haven't watched today yet, but yesterday's episode was "Ask Jennifer".

I'm also watching my TAXI complete series DVD set. I'm near the end of season four there. I watch one episode of each a day.

I'm currently finishing the second season. It's funny, I got the order of a couple episodes switched. For some reason I thought that the episode where they rise in the ratings was the season finale while the one where Johnny Fever wins best morning DJ was earlier. It's the other way around. The 'Very Special Episode' about The Who concert and 'Filthy Pictures' are the standouts with 'Herb's Dad' right up there.

Hey, we're doing WKRP for dinner this week. It's one of the classic sitcoms we have in rotation over and over with other 1/2-hour shows to watch for dinner. Eternal favorites are KRP, MASH, Dick Van Dyke, Taxi, Twilight Zone, Odd Couple, along with discovering 'new' shows we'd never seen before like How I Met Your Mother and Hot in Cleveland.

What's everyone view of Silicon Valley? Never seen any of it, is it worth a viewing?

It's a great show. Mike Judge is in charge of it, the writer of King of the Hill and Beavis & Butthead, but it's more like a high tech Office Space. If you are not in tech you may not get some of the jokes as well as if you were. But there's a great ensemble, perfect comic timing. Only the last season was kind of a let down.

We're binge-watching GRANTCHESTER (a British mystery series), which we never got around to finishing the first time around.

I realized I had season 1 of The Rat Patrol lying around, so that's my breakfast show for a while.
