Anyone own a JVC Everio (Hard Drive) Camcorder?

CaptainHawk1

Commodore
I have a JVC Everio Camcorder and unfortunately it doesn't have any dedicated software on its disc, it simply includes a cheap OEM version of Power DVD.

Can anyone suggest good software (free is nice, but not necessary) for transferring the videos from the hard drive of my camcorder to my computer and for editing (and then to make DVD's). I need something that is obviously compatible with the camera.

If you own an Everio, what do yo use?

The internet tells me that it records MPEG-2, is that right?

If so, you should get the free 'MPEG Streamclip' to convert the files, as MPEG is a really terrible editing format.

What you convert it TO depends more on the editing software you get. You're talking about Windows, right? I don't have any suggestions for you.

But if someone else gives you an idea, find out what that program likes to edit and use MPEG streamclip to convert the files before you edit them.

Depends on the complexity of editing. Adobe Premiere Elements can work well for rudimentary stuff, but if you're doing anything more advanced than cross-dissolves and some title cards, you're going to need a more full-featured NLE.

got it! love it! just made a dvd this morning. I can't suggest the best software cause the better it is the more it cost I bought cyberlink power director to produce dvd files with it this program does the chapter stuff and has lots of extras for like 80 bucks i paid paypal like. I use it for mostly abstract stuff and such

Exactly what I was looking for. If you say that the premium version of cyberlink power dvd is good (and user friendly), I'll gladly spend the $80. I didn't like th reial version that came with the camera, partly because its features were limited and partly because I was using it with my c. 2004 computer and the the results were less than stunning.

My new equipment I'm sure will have no problem with it. :)

I simply need something for home movies.

I'm going to check out that Super too. Thanks for the great tip.:bolian:
