Star Trek 2009 is on FX right now and in the guide description it says it's an extended version of the prequel.

Anyone know what was added?

No idea - my local listing (drawing from zap2it) doesn't say anything about an extended version. Looks like there's a three-hour block of air set aside for it, though; does FX have commercial breaks, or do they air movies without interruption? If the latter, maybe they're adding something from the special features?

Oh... FX has plenty of commercials.

But they usually only show special features on their DVD on TV block.

Given that they got the "prequel" part wrong, maybe they got the "extended version" part wrong as well.

If I'm not mistaken, there were several lines from the theatrical version that weren't on the dvd. The only two I remember where Winona Kirk saying "He looks just like you." And Pike saying "The external inertial dampener, that's the parking brake, isn't it." Or something like that. Perhaps this has those lines restored. Or maybe it features the Klingon scenes.

I suspect extended version, and the 3 hour block merely means it hasn't been trimmed to fit commercials as usually happens. I can't imagine FX being first in the world to see a truly extended version of STXI, with no fanfare whatsoever.

A search on Google revealed that this "extended version" has been on FX before, back in February. No word on whether or not it's really an extended version, though ...

It went straight from the EPiX channel to FX (FX snatched up the non-premium cable broadcast rights shortly after its release in theaters).

I do agree that the extended version probably means it hasn't been edited for time (it also says extended version on my Charter cable guide listings).
