Without resorting to ordering from the USA at extortionate prices? Most shops only have 1 or 2 star trek books avaliable.
so if i go to a usual book shop and want say Destiny book 1 will that take 3 months?

Chain bookstores often have inventories that can be cross-checked between stores. Some books might only have to travel by land (from one store in the chain to another store in the chain) rather than sea or air.
How come the books are more expensive on amazon?

I don't find Amazon prices "more expensive" at all, often cheaper than "recommended retail price", but sometimes people complain about international postage charges. There are still often three levels of postage available, but the cheapest takes much longer to arrive, of course.
But, worldwide, how post office charges are applied to packages of various sizes have changed in recent years. It used to be that the mass of a package, and the speed of delivery, indicated cost. Now it's often physical dimensions. I went to post some thick fanzines a few years ago: three thick, bound volumes to the one international address - and it was much cheaper to put each book into a separate padded envelope than all three in one parcel. Bizarre, and not terribly eco-friendly.
I object to paying 25 dollars U.S for shipping that can take "up to three months" I live in new zealand, not rigel 10
But how do you choose postage? it just adds it automatically and its always loads???
Sorry to Necro this, but I have a question regarding Amazon, why is it that sometimes it displays the total price of your order in NZD and sometimes its in USD, this makes things very confusing!
