Anyone here watched Lexx?

The season where they go to earth must be the most bizarre piece of television I've ever seen. People take the non-earthly origins of the crew in their stride, no, they don't even acknowledge it. I mean, just look at this episode summary:

The crew buy a house in Prime Ridge, using money from ATMs that 790 rigs for them. Xev's cooking is atrocious, Kai doesn't like his new fridge, and after a day they get bored of TV. Xev gets a job at CJD Meat Products as a counsellor (as a way to get sex), where she meets Cleesby. Stan reckons he's got a chance to get it on with the realtor, and her daughter Picolina gets in on the action. Kai starts running out of protoblood, gives druggies all the money, and starts acting as high as they are. Everyone is a gun wielding psycho, and the episode ends in a massive shootout; S.W.A.T ruins the lawn, bullet holes line the walls, Cleesby and Picolina decide sex is better than shooting each other, and the druggies take off in the moth, leaving the gang no option but to use the neighbor's car for a getaway.

I watched the first movie, because someone I knew at university co-created it and had a cameo in it (Lex Gigeroff, who was a smart, funny, creative, charismatic guy). It wasn't my thing, though, so I didn't watch it regularly.

Sometimes I like my sci-fi to be a little insane in the membrane. Hello there, Lexx!

Season 3 is a winner - Arc based twin planet Heaven/Hell situation... nice.

I watched this many moons ago, in the many stuffy small hours of some hot summer or other, but it’s all just a hazy zany memory now.

Didn’t see the Earth episode, I assumed they were in the future.

They were from a different universe, originally. And all of Season 4 is set on Earth - Newfoundland, Japan, America...

Lexx was definitely different. I thought Kai's character and story was interesting. Oh great, now that Brunnen-G song is going to stick in my head. Yoh A O, Hom Var Ray!

Years ago I'd watch it late at night when nothing else was on.

The other day I was watching Forever Knight on YouTube (but that's a whole 'nother thread) and saw the "dead guy" in an early episode. :techman:

I did watch it, though not sure I ever saw all of the final season. I think I have a few Videos of the show up in the loft.

I actually have the complete series, and the movies, on DVD. I love that show. Great cast, totally off-the-wall concepts and scripts. It should be more of a classic, but it seems to have been forgotten.

That show went off the rails in season . Killer carrots that went up people's bums---enough said.
Wasn't that pretty much the tone of the show from the start?
I watched the first couple episode ages ago on Hulu back when it was free, and it seemed interesting. I've got it on my Amazon Prime watchlist now and I plan on giving it another go eventually.

The show was irreverent, but it did have some ideas behind it. Moreover, the third season, in the dark universe (our universe) was very compelling, with interesting writing and sets, and the actors themselves clearly were giving it their all. Season 4 seemed intent on being campy. I remember how disappointed fans were with each episode that was broadcast.

I liked Lexx when it was on. All 4 seasons are on Amazon Prime in case anyone wants check it out. The Amazon version is all uncut so it contains all the nudity etc.. that was cut our when I first saw it on Scifi channel

Yo-way-Yo!

I seem to recall borrowing some DVDs of perhaps the 2nd season over a decade ago. I watched 1 or 2 episodes and I mostly remember being thoroughly confused.

You can buy the whole series, all four seasons, on DVD for $13.

I've been told that the quality of the DVDs is pretty iffy, mostly because the episodes are unevenly spaced out between the various discs, with some discs only containing a single movie and others having 10-11 episodes crammed onto them. I've also been reading a lot of horror stories online about poorly designed packaging and discs that don't even identify which one is disc 1 or disc 2 or whatever.

No, it's just "ew...."

Lexx just struck me as nothing more than sci-fi porn. Now if this is your thing, hey, we're good. It's just not MY thing.

For the price it may be a cheap reissue. I bought the separate season sets a long time ago when they were first released but I noticed you could get it pretty cheap.
