I don't think so Shazam.
Already there is evidence that in the new timeline, the Constitution Class is 700+ metres long. For the Klingons to maintain an effective fleet deterrent against the Constitution Class, they would have to have upscale their D7 Class design to similar sizes, or if it was already in service, introduce a new class.
The only explanation I can think of, about why the ships in the new movie are so huge in volume compared to the originals, is that in 2233, Nero started dumping 25th century technology into the 23rd century market - meaning Starfleet, the Klingon Defence Force, and Romulan Navy, are probably all operating technology in advance of TOS.
USS Kelvin (Both Timelines)
---------------------------
- Crew: 800
- Length: 400m+ ?
USS Enterprise (Main Timeline)
------------------------------
- Launched: 2245
- Crew: 400
- Length: 289m
USS Enterprise (New Timeline)
-----------------------------
- Launched: 2258
- Crew: 1000+ ???
- Length: 366m (intent) 718m-762m (final)
Thats unless the new movie simply has no connection to the previous timeline - and the 'original Spock' was just a gimmick to get people who don't like canon violations into the cinema. I would have just preferred them to call it a re-imagining in this case though, instead of maintaining that pretense.
