Anyone Feel a Little Sorry for Anthony Daniels?

Eh, I don't know about that.
After all, C-3PO's "noble sacrifice" is very quickly undone.
And his "death scene" was a literal punchline. "I just thought of something else we could try—" bang, mindwipe.

Speaking of, I didn't get the line about him being excited to go with Rey on her first mission after he was restored from backup. Was he talking about R2 and I misheard? Did he get R2's memories? Wouldn't it have been both a funnier gag (paying off 3PO distrusting R2's memory banks) and more interesting long-term if the backup was prequel-era?

They weren't R2's memories, he just had a backup of 3PO's

Yeah, but 3PO didn't go on Rey's first mission, R2 did. Unless I misheard and 3PO was saying he was excited for R2 going, or "Find Luke and bring him back" wasn't a "mission" per se.

I remember reading somewhere that the special effects guys had a super hard time replicating the distinctive way Daniels moved as C3PO. Another credit to his acting.

Interestingly, heard something similar about the way Brent Spiner walked as Data. Nobody really noticed it was unique, then all the stunt guys and stand-ins found it impossible to replicate.

A shame we'll never see them in character reacting to one another. I'd pay to see that.
