Anyone Ever In A Fender Bender?

I still say that anyone arrested and convicted for drunk driving should lose the vehicle. "Lose" meaning it goes to the crusher. No ifs, ands, or buts.

What if it is not there car?

People will learn not to loan their cars.

I wish they'd do that across the US, although I think most every State doubles the fines in construction zones *When workers are present.

Nope, if it's a work zone the fines are doubled as long as that zone exsists, at least that is the way it is in Kansas. The theory being that you the drive have no way of knowing if "workers are present." Just because there's no construction teams around doesn't mean there aren't supervisors or inspectors around .

In Oklahoma, there is a disclaimer under the construction signs that warns when the fines double, which is when workers are present. I believe I've seen that same disclaimer in Arkansas, Illinois, and Texas.

I was in my first incident of any sort in about 5 years yesterday. I was stopped, waiting to make a left turn, and some woman rear ended me. I lost some pain off my spare tire cover and my exhaust system is rattling, her hood folded in half.

I immediately exchanged information and called the cops. Called my insurance company right after that.

The other driver really didn't want me calling the cops because she was obviously at fault. Her car had quite a few dings and dents so this obviously wasn't her first rodeo. It was an older car as well, so my guess it it may be totaled.

One off the nice things in Mass is they can waive your deductible if you're not at fault. Hitting a stopped vehicle counts as no fault to the one hit. So I'm getting a brand new exhaust system on an aging (still very good condition) car I plan to keep for a few more years, at no charge.

If the other person is at fault, yeah, almost always you'll get no points on your license or have to pay anything or get any penalties from your insurance company. I suspect that's more-or-less a nation/system wide standard. If you didn't cause an accident there's no reason for you to suffer any penalty.

When hit, you always call the cops. At the very least the accident report is good evidence to the insurance companies for establishing fault and to protect the "victim" from potentially being sued. Calling the insurance companies is another matter, if you (general) and the other driver can work something out without involving insurance the better -since it won't mean increased premiums for the one who caused the accident. -But, again, there's potential for exploitation there.

I did get into a serious wreck a few years back. I was driving back to San Francisco on the highway and I was driving directly into the sun. I didn't have any sunglasses and the sun was glaring off of the oil streaks on the road. Well I completely lost all sense of where the road dividers were and ran off the road into an underpass construction area at about 70 miles per hour. Plowed straight into a stack of lumber and skidded about 50 feet. The entire front of the car was smashed in. Luckily the airbags deployed and I had my seat belt on. Funny thing was it was a rental car and luckily that time I had purchased the insurance. I didn't always do that before. I do now.

Only 2 people!!! 1 wasn't my fault...the other...kinda my fault...and it was many years ago...2001. The one that wasn't my fault happened in 2007.

Today I was in my first incredibly minor car scrape(well I did hit a cop car years ago, but that is another kind of story). I say scrape because I think it was too small to even say accident. I bumped two other cars while trying to pull into a parking space in a very small cramped parking lot. The security guard then made it a point to indelicately let everyone in the doctors office know two cars got bumped and it was my fault. 1 car did have some paint chipped off, the other seemed fine. I exchanged information with both people, and they say they'll get back to me, but now I am worried because I don't know what unfolds from here. Anyone have a similar experience? Did it turn out all right or are these usually nightmares where someone tries to get a new transmission out of you? Should I contact my insurance company even though I don't know yet if either of them will want any payment?

Nope, it was 3 fenders a hood a tailgate and 2 bumpers +.
I'm still waiting for the repair shop to get the truck right.
