Anyone else think Vulcan's Glory should be made into a SNW episode?

I think DC Fontana's Vulcans Gory should be made into a SNW episode, its a great story, takes place in the right time period, and it would be a great tribute to a great star trek writer. :vulcan:

It would be helpful, for the people who haven’t actually read the book and don’t know what you’re talking about, if you could explain just what it is about the story that you feel would make it a good episode.

I like DC Fontana as much as the next person but never read the book. No idea if it would be good or not.

I read all of Yesterday's Son, a follow up to "All Our Yesterday's" and Spock having a son in one sitting too. Not sure it would make a good TV episode though.

As it seems to be happening, is the mining of details, and information from the literary universe, so it could happen to pull some ideas from it.

As for Spock's son in other books, I've always not liked the "Abandoned chld" story, and honestly has been used way to much. Kirk, Sisko, Worf, etc. If the story needs the character to have a kid, then the writters should have the giblets to write in the kid permenantly.

Well, it did involve time travel for Spock's son.

The only thing I remember about Spock's son from the novels is the time he bit into some kind of meat sandwich to piss off his father. I read them over 30 years ago. Otherwise, I don't really follow any of this.

I loved that novel, so yes. Loved the logical reasoning behind Spock having casual sex.

The backstory gets VERY messy if applied to canon though.
I know they didn't have those characters in mind and the name is a complete fluke but, it implies Malcolm from Enterprise raped and impregnated T'Pol or another Vulcan woman.

I don’t think it would work. No slight on Vulcan’s Glory, which kinda reads like a novelization of an unaired pilot set pre-The Cage, but I don’t think it really fits with the world Discovery established, or some of the things that were subsequently established through the other TV Trek (it was published, what, mid-TNG Season Two or thereabouts?). At best, it might earn an “inspired by” credit, but an actual adaptation? I don’t think so.

Granted, there are some elements that I wouldn’t be against seeing migrate to SNW, but the whole story proper? I don’t think so.

A young Scotty making bootleg whiskey next to the dilithium chamber would be a joy to watch. Just make sure the actors accent is genuine and not Pegg’s attempt (and I like Pegg!)
