Anyone else pick up a Wii Fit last night?

I lined up to get mine at midnight, glad I did since lots of people were turned away. I didn't really play it since it was late and I had to get to sleep but I did take the time to set myself up on it.

Real age - 32
Wii Fit age - 33

Not bad, I was expecting worse.

I picked it up at Circuit City when they opened this morning.
There was about 5 people waiting to get it.

My girlfriend has been talking about it for a couple of months now so she will be real happy.

I got her the no-slip cover and battery charger as well.
Saved about $15.00 with their discount gamer card so that was good.

No, I decided against it. I use my Wii for plenty of things but to exercise? Nah, sorry. I'd rather go out running or something else outside and enjoy the wonderful summer weather. A gaming console gives me plenty of excuse to stay inside already, I don't need to add "exercising" to that list too.

That's why I don't understand the release date.

It should have come out in October for the cold weather and holiday season along with a few others games. $90 for things I can do outside for free is a little insane to me.

This thread reminds me of THIS.

:guffaw:

I eat too much ice cream, but Wii Fit is to blame for calling me fat! :)

Actually the best time to release it would of been right at the beginning of January, when many people have New Years resolutions to work out/loose weight.

Not that it really matters. Wii Fit would sell well with any release date.

Had lots of fun trying it out last night after the kids went to bed. I'm also a big fan of getting outside but for those cold winter months and evenings when the kids are in bed this will be great.

I'm going to wait until there are some studies that show whether it has any measurable effect on one's fitness.

While I am sure running and bouncing around and do vauge aerobics in place is more healthier/better for fitness than sitting on your ass drinking bacon milkshakes, I also doubt it's got all that much effect on fitness.

I'm just waiting until I can find one on the shelf. I don't like having to pre-order stuff or wait in line. When they become a bit more common I'll definitely snag one. And no way I will pay a premium to get one off of eBay or similar.

I don't see what all the hype is about. Its basically just an interactive exercise tape. As a smoker, drinker, and general couch potato, it would be hypocritical for me to buy a video game about exercise. I'm one of those people who can eat whatever they want and stay thin with out really trying anyways so its not like I need it.
