Anyone else here read the Drizzt Do'Urden books?

I just started reading The Legend of Drizzt book VII: The Legacy, and so far I'm really enjoying it. This is actually the first book in the series I've read so far, and I'm only reading it first because I found it cheap at Wal-Mart. So if any of you have read this, how would you rank it in terms of quality realtive to the other books in the series?

I love the Drizzit books. But it must be hard jumping into it with The Legacy. I suggest starting at the beginning with Homeland and you will get the most out of it.

I'm one of the odd ones that thinks The Legacy is the best book, but you can't really go wrong with the first one (Homeland), which is considered by many to be one of the best books. It's also a good gauge to see if you would like the series as a whole or not. If you don't like Homeland then you should just not bother with the rest.

I do intend to go back to the beginning after I read either Legacy or the Legacy of the Drow trilogy. I was just reading Legacy to see if I like the series in general.

I enjoy the books, for the most part (Salvatore's earlier books are a little amateurish compared to his later work), though Drizzt isn't my favorite character in the world. He's a little too Perfect & Awesome!™ for me.

Depends entirely on what you like.

His character is too tiresome to continue liking for too long. I have read first 3 trilogies starring him. (It's weird. The first trilogy, he is one of the principal characters. The second trilogy - he's the main character and it's actually his life history till the point that he showed up in the first trilogy. The third trilogy takes off from the end of the first trilogy and introduces a new character Entreri). Drizz't becomes boring after a while. We're always told about how he's the greatest warrior etc. and one can stomach only so much of that.

Drizzit is one of my favorite literary characters ever. I've read the Icewind Dale Trilogy and the first 3 Legacy of the Drow novels, and really want to eventually go back and read the entire series of novels featuring the character.

BTW, Entreri isn't introduced in the 'Sellswords' trilogy, he's introduced during the Icewind Dale Trilogy, featuring most prominently in the third book in that series, The Halfling's Gem.
