Anyone else had an ear problem like this?

At the end of January I acquired a double ear infection. About a week later a fluid buildup began. I waited a couple of weeks for it to go away but it didn't so I went to the doctor and he gave me nasonex and anti-congestents. Didn't work much so I had to go to an ENT. I went a little over two weeks ago and he said it would probably have to go away on its own. It began to but then it returned and has been getting worse over the past few days. I've still been using nasonex but to little avail. Today my ears have been hurting quite a bit and I feel a slight sharp pain in them.

Tomorrow morning I'll make an appointment with the ENT again and try to get in as absolutely soon as possible (there are a few doctors in the office so hopefully one of them will be available). But I was wondering if anyone has had something like this before. Any solutions? Even temporary ones?

I had a similar thing this winter, not excessive fluid build up, but ear infections so bad my jaw hurt. After 2 rounds of anti-biotics it finally chilled out but I still have the remnents of it goin on in my left ear.

I can only hope that the warmer weather we seem to finally be having in our area helps us both out bro.

Oh, wow. I actually have some more anti-biotics so I can take those. It's good to see that I'm not the only person who has this problem, though, and its not a freak thing with me. Must be some bad bug going around this year.

EXTRA STRENGTH OIL OF OREGANO!

Oil of Oregano is both a natural anti-biotic, anti-oxidant and anti-fungal medicine.

Because it's so strong you won't wanna take it directly into your mouth, I suggest you also buy some cheap health tablets that use capsules, something like Milk Thistle capsules. Empty the capsules and fill them using the oil of oregano and take a couple of them a day.

You will see immediate improvement.

When I was a young man, I'd get an earache after the first time I went swimming every year. The doctor would just give me some ear drops and it would clear up pretty quickly. I don't know why this doc is reluctant to give you medicine.

Oh, they did at first. I was on anti-biotics for two weeks.

My best guess is if fluid isn't draining properly from the middle ear that something could be wrong with the Eustachian tube preventing fluid to drain into your throat. Pain could mean an infection caused by the fluid just sitting there and not able to drain properly.

That's what I'm thinking. Some heavier antibiotic may be in order.

Yeah, sounds like the Eustachian tube problem I keep having every now and then. Don't mean to scare you, but once it took 2.5 months to clear up.

Sinus infections have been numerous this year. I was on 2 rounds of z-packs myself. The kids just had another prescription of amoxicillin. Course the antibiotics are the last resort. But there comes a point you have to do it before damage occurs.

Be sure to take your antibiotics only as prescribed. A lot of people will stop taking them when they feel better, not knowing that the full round should be taken.

But back to the topic, I feel for you. Due to some malformations in my inner ear, and to the natural downward curve of children's ear canals (the reason children get so many ear infections, the canals straighten as we grow up), I suffered severe ear infections almost from the time I was born. They were so bad that I was deafened almost completely as an infant and toddler, and unfortunately several doctors dismissed my mother's complaints that I couldn't hear as a young parent's worry. It wasn't until I was two and my ears exploded with blood at a shopping mall that anyone took my mother seriously.
Unfortunately, permanent damage was done, and beginning at age two through to age twelve I had around twenty surgeries on my ears (some as benign as insertion of ear tubes, and some more serious, such as the grafting of tissue from my earlobe inside my ear to repair damage to the ear drum. I continued to suffer ear infections several times a year, and seemed to be off and on antibiotics all the time.
Though I was functionally deaf to about age five, my hearing is now within normal range in my right ear, and just below normal in the left. The moral is, treat your ear infection straight away!

I had fluid in both ears last fall, along with a sinus infection. I did some research at the time and found to my horror that shit like this can go on even for months.

I recall I had some success by using warm cloths/heat packs, around the sinus region, and even on the sides of your head around the ears/temple. Watch out, if you do get the fluid to move, it can be VERY dizzying for a few moments.

Haven't had fluid problems since then, but that whole round of illness gave me a mild case of tinnitus in one ear. Watch out for even moderately loud sounds when your ears are plugged like that.

Try some Hydorgenperoxide. Poor it into the ear and let it sit (you'll have to have your head titled so it won't pour out) for about five minutes. Then let it drain out for am inute to make sure it's all out. Do it again in a couple days, then do it again i na week, then only do it once every three weeks. It's also good to clear up wax.
It can eat skin, so don't do it more than what I suggested above, plus ... ear wax can be a good thing for your ears. It will tingle and make you feel weird, so you'll have to just sit there and take it. ;-)

Also, try some rubbing alcohol and vinager mixed together. You can do this more often and it can be good for infections.

I tried hydrogen peroxide to try and get rid of a waxy build up on my eardrum, although the solution was diluted with water, it didn't do much I think the drops you can get in the store work better. In your case the fluid might be on the other side of the ear drum so there is not much you can do other than take some decongestants to open everything up (from your op you've tried them already), you can have the ENT stick a gizmo in your ear to get a reading on if there is anything on the other side of your ear drum.

Trust me PLEASE!

Oil of Oregano is all you'll need! :( Don't wait and don't hesitate, the longer you leave it the longer you're going to suffer. :(

You're supposed to finishn all antibiotics when prescribed. Don't you know that?
