Anyone else find Naomi Wildman annoying?

Naomi was fine I thought.

The Borg Kids were the worst thing Trek has ever produced, Westley Crusher was annoying but Wil Wheaton a G so i can give him a pass.

I was manager of a well know named toy store for 8 years.
I developed a high tolerance and great appreciation of children.
It's the adults that have no tolerance or understanding.
With that said; no, I don't find Naomi annoying at all.
I wish all parents raised their children to be as well behaved as she was.
..and she as a kid was smarter and better mannered than Tom Paris ever was.

This is what I like about Naomi:

She's smart but she's no girl genius. She never saves the ship, nor is she a catalyst for Our Heroes to have tedious epiphanies. She's just an intelligent child, into her academics and wanting the respect of the Captain and 7. She has no peers as she is the only child until the Borg kids show up so her interactions with crew are not some weird child-prodigy hanging out with adults deal. They are they only people she has to talk to.

She's not particularly emotional, you can see she would have been the geeky girl back on Earth that looked down on the cheerleaders. But there are no cheerleaders here on Voyager, she's got no one to feel superior to. At no point does she come across as snotty or know it all. Her life is not idyllic however.. though she is cared for and encouraged by any in the crew she interacts with she still has reason to fear those that would do Voyager harm. She has had to grow up quickly to realistically understand Voyager's vulnerability in the Delta Quadrant.

There's not a single moment she annoys me. She's utterly normal given her unusual life.

No. But then I even like the kids in that 'stranded Tuvok' story. ;)

And I love the way she so absolutely idolises/wants to emulate Seven.

QFT.

Great post! :bolian:

I'll agree on the point of the Borg kids. That was just redundant to no end. There was nothing they contributed that Seven or Naomi hadn't already done.

Heck, Icheb was pretty much the Borg Wesley Crusher, except was even more dull somehow.

That's because under all that weaslly, Wheaton is awesome.

Wil was 10 years old when he stared down Jack Bauer and won.

Oh very much so yes - i dont think star trek does kids/teenagers very well. Here in the UK we have a saying "very stage school". All of them. The casting agents should'uv taken a page outta the producers of aliens when selecting Carrie Henn (Newt) and avoid the typical places to cast children and teenagers: avoid the stage schools and shoot from the hip.

I find the whole fcuking series annoying, there's a posh b!tch as captin, some slaphead as the doctor who seems gay to me, and this cheap rip-off of Spock. Who the hell's this Spock ment to be, the crazy "cool, y'all, how'z arez yous todayz" version, he aint, he's boring, the origional was bad ennougth (he was ok, but not realy as good as the rest of the crew, what I like about Spock is his relationship with Kirk and Mcoy), but now we have an even more boring version. It's like the camp version of the origional series, that's why I've only watched one and a half episodes. I saw one episode and thought it was boring and decided to give it a second chance, then I waded through half of annother episode and in the middle of it I decided to fcuk off, it's not worth it. God I hate Voyger!

When you say the Doctor "seems gay" so you mean this as a positive or a negative?

I would love to see an ep where the Doctor decides to expand his sexuality subroutines. He's very firmly heterosexual but of course he could tweak that easily enough.

It's like the camp version of the origional series,

It IS camp and that is why it is glorious.

But not as camp as ST:V. That's the benchmark for Trek camp.

You should blog about this. Children could be saved.

"You stranded us in the Delta Quadrant? You donkey!"

Janeway is Posh?

Hardly, she's just a small town girl that got a good education and leg up form her pappy.
