Anyone afraid The Red Angel reveal will be a letdown

Pike will be aways watched and someday, if he is ever crippled, they retrieve him and care for him on Talos. This act will further reinforce reasons why the death sentence on Talos continues by Starfleet.

This strikes me as the most probable answer actually. We'll see.

The red angel plot is reminding me of the infamous JJ Abrams mysterious box.

IMHO, mystery boxes are just a gimmick. Once you "find out" it doesn't really offer much in the way of satisfaction. I guess for those who want to try to guess things along the way, fine, but once the cat's out of the bag, then what? It doesn't really comprise an artistic statement or point.

I guess that's why I've never been much of a fan of the mystery genre outside of maybe Columbo but in that one the audience is clued in from the start.
