Anybody use a Magic Trackpad? (Apple)

I'm seriously thinking about getting one of those Apple trackpads. Does anyone here use one? If so, what do you think of it? Is it easy to learn how to use? Better than a mouse?

I'm not familiar with the particular device, but I am with Apple trackpads in general.

Are they just as good or better than mice for most things? Sure. For gaming? Less clear. The lack of an easy right-click becomes more apparent in games like RTS than in many other contexts. However, the actual pointer control is certainly good enough.

I've used both trackpad and mouse, and I'd much rather have a mouse. I bought a mouse for my laptop so I don't have to use the trackpad.

I find mice are quicker and more precise in practical use. Also, when I use a laptop (with trackpad) for more than an hour or so, I can feel it pulling the skin on my finger, making it feels itchy/sore around my nail.

With two-fingered scrolling, and especially with the three- and four-fingered gesture controls, I've found I've started using the trackpad almost exclusively on my MacBook Pro. I still love my trusty trackball, though, but I only defer to it now when I need a lot of precision or a lot of buttons (which means gaming and 3D stuff).

Apparently the Magic Trackpad can actually be clicked like a mouse. That's interesting to me, as is the much larger surface area vs. a laptop's trackpad.

Well, any Apple trackpad can be set to interpret a tap as a click.

I must admit I've never really explored the gesture capability beyond that tidbit, however.

I switched to the TrackPad shortly after it came out. Loved the TrackPad on my Macbook Pro, thought it would be the way to go. At first I was a little hesitant to use it more then occasionally, I still had my Magic Mouse. I found after a short amount of time, that it was just way better with the TrackPad and got ride of the Magic Mouse. (Its in a draw in the desk) I use the TrackPad for everything, except some 3D stuff in Lightwaves. I used my tablet when I need greater control, but I did that with the mouse as well. I would highly recommend it.

Here is my setup.
